Mayumana comes to Peru

(Provided by Mayumana)

Water, tubes, pots, garbage bins and even some body parts, such as cheeks, are the instruments that MAYUMANA uses to create a truly unique show. Its performance on stage is a mixture of percussion, vocal techniques, musical theory, capoeira, yoga, hip hop, improvisation and even play amongst the actors.

Founded in 1996, the show's creators, Israeli percussionists Eylon Nuphar y Boaz Berman state, “We have created a show which combines elements that come from different artistic disciplines based on rhythm and on the personal ability of the actors. The objective is to get to the heart of the people and give joy to the spectator. "

The name of MAYUMANA is derived from the Hebrew Word “Meyumanut”, which means “ability” and emerges with the objective to mix several artistic disciplines starting from rhythm and the personal abilities of the performers and connecting with the audience without taking cultural and language barriers into consideration.

The creation of MAYUMANA has transcended Israeli stages. It has been on stages in Europe, the Americas, the Unites States, and Asia with great success, while enjoying excellent reviews from both critics and the public.

The company has grown from its humble beginnings of only 11 actors to the current cast of 70 first class performers. More than 7,000 performers have auditioned for MAYUMANA. The members of the cast have been chosen for their exceptional individual talent, for their special personality, and for having the on-stage aptitude that the acoustic and physical elements of the show demand.

Training requires a high level of individual aptitude. To execute the demands of the show, the artists go through intense training in percussion, voice techniques, musical theory, coordination, yoga, hip hop, capoeira, and improvisation.

The show is in constant evolution. New challenges are created constantly and the show evolves with each performance. It is a process that stimulates and where there is always room to create something new.

MAYUMANA is much more than a theatrical representation. Due to its origin, it has been invited to appear in Europe, Latin America, Asia and the United States.  Throughout the world, MAYUMANA is recognized for its liberty to create and its joy of living.
