An Open Window of Opportunities

By Anikó Kraft

An open window for opportunitiesNovember will be a busy month for the Peruvian association “Una Ventana Abierta para La Mujer en el Mundo” (An Open Window for Women in the World) as it has organized not one, but two annual conferences this year. As a warm-up, 1000 women are expected to attend the November 7 event in the Lima Chamber of Commerce, covering their own costs and registration fees.

For those more than 9000 micro and small enterprises who could not afford to pay the 30 soles registration fee, the association’ sponsors like Coca Cola, Concebir, Ajepe, Agua Cielo, etc are making sure that they are not left without leadership and skill workshops either. The second event will take place on November 28 in the Coliseo Eduardo Dibos, San Borja.

What is Una Ventana Abierta…?
“Una Ventana Abierta…” is a non-governmental organization created in 2008 with the aim to empower Peruvian women by focusing on women entrepreneurs and managers.  Its primary mission is the promotion, integral development and training of Peruvian women as well as promoting development of programs for the sustained growth of a more just and equitable entrepreneurship and business culture.

Furthermore the association seeks to promote norms, values and principles of equality to help combat gender discrimination, thus creating spaces of cultural diffusion to allow women access to new information technologies and the constant training.

… and what does it do?
The Peruvian Association "An Open Window for Women in the World" began as a long term project that based workshops, lectures and corporate training and leadership training, seminars and business meetings to support more than 100,000 women in Peru.

In order to achieve its goals, “Una Ventana Abierta…” began as a long term project that based workshops, lectures and corporate training and leadership training, seminars and business meetings to support more than 100,000 women in Peru. It is planning to organize dozens of workshops in the next 5 years, focusing on topics that will enable its associates to become more successful business leaders. These topics will range from workshops about basic principals of management, marketing, quality and customer service to workshops about self development and seminars about skill assessment and management.

How to Help

As a non-governmental organization, “Una Ventana Abierta…” relies heavily on donations. If you would like to help their work empowering Peruvian women, you may make either cash or in-kind donations, such as office equipment (computers, printers, furniture, etc), communications equipments or materials for dictation programs. If you have a service to offer, printing, transportation, messaging, communications and advertising, are all services that would make “Una Ventana Abierta’s” work to help Peruvian women much easier.
