We are interested in staying at one of the following Motels/hotel:
-Merlin Hotel
-Las Palmeros
-Fishing Club Lodge (the former "Cabo Blanco Fishing Club")
-El Merten
-La Esmeralda de Colan
We will be fishing out of Cabo Blanco or possibly Mancora, whichever is closest to the best saltwater fishing.

# Katie McCurry says :Thanks for the help JT.
Anyone having information about any type of fishing out of Cabo Blanco, Peru would be so helpful. It seems that fishing there is not being promoted internationally.

I am the niece of Kimberly Wiss, the women's record holder for catching marlin. She caught that fish in April of 1954, and kept the nose piece and tail piece of that fish, along with many photos and clippings. It was one of the big events of her life--she was bigger than life, and is much missed.# Chris H says :
Fascinating to read about some of Peru's less visited sites.... how highly do you really rate these beaches though? Is the sea clear, or slightly murky as it often is on South America's western coastline?# vicky says :

I am so happy..For years,I had tried to get information about Miss Kimberly Wiss. My dad Jesus Ruiz was the captain of the boat and very fun of your aunt. He tried to get in touch with her but of course in those years Peru was far, far away and no internet. When I came to the USA that was the first thing my dad asked me and still he remind me to continue looking for her. After this I will call him. He will be sorry, to know she is not longer with us.
My dad has a wonderful color picture (calendar) that your aunt sent to him and signed by her of the Famous World Record and also Mr. Glassell record's my dad was the captain.
Thank you for this information!!!

I read the article which brings good memories of the Ruiz Family in Cabo Blanco. My uncle Hernan Sanchez from Lima Peru was a good friend of the family. He took me on a couple of trips to Cabo Blanco and went fishing with don Jesus and his sons Cruz and Benito Ruiz. I hope I could contact Agatha Brockland to get in touch with the Ruiz family again. I live in Meriden, CT.

I knew Kimberly. She was one of my mother's good friends in NY and so wonderful. I also have a picture of her with the fish, though it's different from the one posted above. I believe she's standing alone next to it, wearing shorts, with a big smile on her face. (I have to search my albums for it.) She signed it "The one that didn't get away. Heck -- a fish." As I recall the story, didn't one of the men trying to help her reel it in get his hand caught in the reel? Would love to get in touch with you. Was she your aunt or great-aunt?
