A few years ago, C. K. Prahalad and Allen Hammond wrote a very interesting article for the Harvard Business Review, named “Serving the world’s poor profitably”. In it they speak of the great economic potential the market at the bottom of the pyramid represents. Great article. As Hernando De Soto said it, there is potential in those markets but much is needed to be done. As long as these people have land ownership, the rest would be easier for them. There is a big market which can bring profits to companies and create more jobs for peruvians. Thanks for the article.# Phillip says :

This means that there is an opportunity for companies to develop products and services to which they rarely have access, at a lower cost, generating a situation where everybody wins: the poor because they could gain access to services at a lower cost and companies, because they could make a good profit if they develop a distinctive strategy.
This should have been done automatically, Instead of which we have the US FTA promoting expoitation to Peruvian & Latin Workers all over South America. Yes the poor have always got poorer & the Rich get Richer. Hence Hugo Chavez says Yankees Go Home, And I totally agree with him.
So for now this article is nothing but hot air. And can Latinos trust US coperations in Latin America after been exploited for so long the answer is NO.
