Colores y sueños - Exhibition

The ‘Dignidad Humana y Solidaridad’ Association continues father Hubert Lanssiers’ work in favor of human rights presenting the tenth ‘Art and Hope’ exhibition entitled ‘Colors and Dreams’. This annual presentation displays the artistic talent of jail inmates of Lima.

El grabador arequipeño Arturo Madueño... - Exhibition

Drawings and paintings, which were made by the patients of Víctor Larco Herrera Hospital between 1930 and 1940, will be shown in Peru’s National Library as part of the exhibit “El grabador arequipeño Arturo Madueño y el Maestro de las Calaveras”. The exhibit includes more than 60 works by Arturo Madueño, (who was admitted to this institution on different occasions) and 10 by an anonymous patient.

Re-construídas - Exhibition

Photographs, videos and installations are the mediums used in “Re-construídas”, an exhibit featuring Peruvian artist Patricia Villanueva and Spanish artist Pilar Albarracín. Examples of the works featured are Albarracín’s “Escaparates” photograph series, which shows Albarracín ironically interacting with store mannequins, while Villanueva’s play “Rara Avis”, told through photographs and video, tells the story of a women who visits a plastic surgeon and asks that he mark the areas of her body that need surgery. She then goes to a tattoo parlor and makes the markings permanent.

Artistic Ceramics – Exhibition

A group of ceramic artists will present the work they have produced this year in an exhibition/sale. Find wonderful pieces of artwork just in time for Christmas. Ceramist Christian Escajadillo will also be exhibiting some pieces that he is working on for his upcoming individual exhibition.

Un Peruano en las Estrellas - Theater

"Un Peruano en las Estrellas", a politically-themed play, is a parody of science-fiction films. In this production, Lucho, an ordinary Peruvian, is mistaken as the savior of the universe in an intergalactic battle that will change history forever. The play touches on ideas of paternal responsibility, love of family, human rights, discrimination and respect for the environment.

Sing a Song of Sixpence – Christmas Pantomime

Faces of Ethiopia - Photo Exhibition

As part of the MIRAFOTO festival, photographer Dimitri Wentner presents a collection of his photographs taken in Ethiopia in 2004 and 2005. In his work, we can the multicultural wealth of this country, one of the poorest in the world. He shows us the "primitive" tribes in the south, the muslim community in the east and the orthodox in the north. Wentner invites us to ask "What do these communities and tribes have in common?" and also, "What do they have in common with me?"

28th Ricardo Palma Book Fair

The book is considered to be the most essential cultural object. It is a source of knowledge, experiences and recreation. Book fairs aid in the necessary diffusion of these objects. Angeles en la tierra - Exhibition

The exhibition of small and medium sculptures of artist Juan Pablo Torres Benvenuto features “angels”, those external people that help us overcome the difficult, sometimes tragic moments life puts us through, are here represented “on earth”. Torres Benvenuto, who considers his art to be figurative, presents for the first time in an individual exhibition, a mix of his interpretations, feelings and ideas, reflected by the use of diverse materials and techniques.

Exponatale – Christmas shopping

Exponatale is Dédalo’s creative and original event that has taken place before Christmas during the past 12 years. On this occasion, 15 different artists will present their versions of the Peruvian “retablo”, a small box with a miniature manger scene.

VIH-VIDA - Exhibition

Journalist Jaime Rázuri spent 13 years of his life with people who live with and are discriminated against because they suffer from the retrovirus HIV. With "VIH-VIDA" Rázuri, who works for France Press, tries to establish the notion that its just as important to inform and educate the public about HIV, as it is to show them the world of those who live with it every day.

El Viaje - Exhibition

"El Viaje" is Marcelo Wong's first individual exhibition. The sculptor, who studied at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, presents his plastic figurines alongside two other mediums--the presentation of the children's tale "The Painted Faces" by Alberto Thieroldt and a stop-animation piece by Gustavo Vargas. Wong's sculptures will serve as the "narrator" for Thieroldt's story.

Piazza and Stoll – Photography Exhibition

As part of the MIRAFOTO Festival, María Cecilia Piazza and Hans Stoll present their exhibitions “Historias Íntimas” and “Carretera al Sur”. The people that appear in Piazza’s work, as described by writer Alonso Cueto, are “Lonely but not isolated, dark but not blurry, melancholy but not desolate.” Stoll’s series, on the other hand, is defined by Laura Benetti as “a dialogue that initiates the silent future between the observer and the traveler”.

Flujo - Exhibition

Musuk Nolte will present his first individual exhibition, "Flujo" at the Galería 80m2 de arte y debates. The showcase features different mediums such as photography, installation pieces and video. The young artist, only 19 years old, graduated with a degree in photography from Centro de la Imagen.

Disney Live! Winnie the Pooh - Show for children

Disney Live! Winnie the Pooh is a live show produced for the international stage by the makers of Disney On Ice. It is a charming tale of friendship, starring some of the most beloved characters in children's literature – the hunny-loving Winnie the Pooh and his friends Tigger, Piglet, Eeyore, Rabbit, Kanga, Roo and Owl. Together, they embark on a 'splendiforous' musical journey through the Hundred Acre Wood while planning a surprise birthday party for a distracted Pooh.

20 years of Spanish cooperation in Peru - Exhibition

Norbert Wiener University plays host to “20 años de la Cooperación Española en el Perú” (20 years of Spanish cooperation in Peru), a photography exhibition that tells the history, integration and bonds of a brotherhood between two nations. The exhibition is composed of three award-winning pieces for a contest held by the Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional (AECI), as well as the work of seven well-known Peruvian artists. The event is organized by the AECI, along with the Spanish Embassy in Peru and the Spanish Cultural Center.

A look at plastic art: an instructive exhibition

Landmarks of New York - Exhibition

To celebrate the 4th International Festival Mirafoto, the Museum of Art of the Cultural Centre of San Marcos and the US Embassy organized the exhibition “Landmarks of New York”, which displays about 80 black-and-white photos of the Big Apple’s most significant and protected buildings. Indeed, the New York City Landmarks Law, voted in 1965, protects buildings and properties which have a historical and/or cultural interest, and New York is the U.S. city with the highest number of historical monuments.

Hilos del pasado - Exhibition

The Museo de Arqueología, Antropología e Historia del Perú will exhibit "Hilos del pasado: El aporte francés al legado Paracas", (Threads of the past: The French port to the Paracas legacy). The exhibition is sponsored by the French-Peruvian Foundation and the French Embassy, who recovered the pieces. "Hilos del pasado" has a total of 28 pieces, which six of 40 textiles have been recovered by archaeologist Carmen Thays and her team from the MNAAHP

Voces del Mundo

"Voces del Mundo" (Voices of the World), the latest series by Anabell Guerrero, opens new perspectives on exile, refugees, and living life between two worlds. Her exhibit asks and tries to answer questions such as, how do you build a society in which many nationalities co-exist? Or, how does a foreigner adapt to a new city? What ties us to a place and when can we finally say we are a part of it?

Memoria Inca, Malú Cabellos - Exhibition

Malú Cabellos, a photographer dedicated to photojournalism and licensed by the Sociología por la Universidad Nacional Mayor of San Marcos, offers us his first individual exhibition, "Memoria Inca": a selection of 27 black and white photographs. This work is the result of a project born from a picture: the reencactment of the capture and death of Inca Atahualpa, which marked the beginning of Spanish conquest in Peru.

Lika Mutal - Exhibition

After four years, sculptor Lika Mutal brings her newest work to Barranco's Galería Lucía de la Puente. "Del espacio sagrado, de las piedras soñadas, del Munay" consists of 26 sculptures, made of small, medium and large scale granite, travertino and Yumaque rock. The exhibition speaks of the relationship between the artist with the rocks and Peru.

La Fiesta del Chivo - Theater

The Asociación Peruano-Británica presents a theater adaptation of Mario Vargas Llosa’s novel “La Fiesta del Chivo” led by renowned Colombian director Jorge Alí Triana. Previously performed in New York and Colombia, this production takes us back to the Dominican Republic of the “Trujillo Era” (1930 - 1961) and narrates one of the most atrocious events of Dominican history, the dictatorship of Rafael Leonidas Trujillo, culminating in his death. The play also tells the story of Urania who, after 3 years away, reunites with her father, Agustin Cabral, president of the senate. Upon her return, Urania finds that her father is no loner the powerful person she knew, but has become a useless old man, allowing her to reveal to her family her most sordid memories. This production intertwines stories of ambition, power, conspiracy, pain, betrayal and death. Participating artists include Alberto Isola, Norma Martínez, Leonardo Torres Descalzi, Jorge Chiarella and Carlos Victoria.

Ubu Rey - Theater

The Alianza Francesa presents Ubu Rey (Ubu the King), an 1896 play by French poet and playwright Alfred Jarry which caused a scandal in its time. Ubu the King tells the story of Papa Ubu who, persuaded by his wife, decides to plot in a conspiracy and become king of Poland. Papa Ubu and his evil wife are two grotesque characters, greedy for power and everything that comes with it. They are determined to reign and are willing to destroy everything that comes in their way.

Carlos Runcie Tanaka - Exhibition

Sculptor Runcie Tanaka will present his exhibition “A Zen Parable, Ten Short Stories” as part of the Cultural Week of Japan. The exhibition, as the title suggests, refers to the story of a child that must go through ten different stages to achieve wisdom and illumination. The artist is able to find in this narration, a story that reminds him of his relationship with Japan, sometimes real, sometimes based on metaphors stored in his memories.

World Press Photo 2007 – Exhibition

In search of a Hero – Exhibition

Perú Vas - Theater on a bus

Revelaciones no específicas - Exhibition

Artist William Pinillos, who hails from Trujillo, will display his exhibition "Revelaciones no específicas" at the Enlace Arte Contemporáneo. It features 14 pieces in oil and grand scale. Pinillos has studied at the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes in Trujillo and has exhibited work in galleries in Puerto Rico, Ecuador, the U.S., Chile and Spain. His exhibition at the Enlace will end in December.

Mas Cerca - Theater

Roberto Ángeles directs “Mas Cerca”, an urban play, modern in appearance, which hides a painful, sad background. It concentrates on the relationships between four people who are lovers, irresponsible, innocent, cowards, mysterious, greedy and arrogant. British dramatist Patrick Marber wrote the play, which features Dan, Alice, Ana and Larry, four characters whose lives intermingle in this piece which shows the reality of relationships.

Des-Grabando - Exhibition

The objective of “Des-Grabando” is to give spectators a new view on the tradicional concept of engravings, and cross the borders of what this art is usually defined as. In this exhibition, artists Juan Javier Salazar, Alfredo Márquez, Jaime Higa and Olga Engelmann each display their own perspective on engraving as a way of preserving memories.
