Soda Stereo, the popular Argentine 80's band composed of Gustavo Cerati, Zeta Bosio and Charly Alberti, will perform two shows in Lima as part of their 2007 tour "Me Verás Volver." The band has reunited exclusively for this event, the first time they have done so since they broke up in 1997, surprising their thousands of fans all over Latin American. Don't miss this chance, possibly the last, to see one of the greatest Spanish rock legends.

The ‘Dignidad Humana y Solidaridad’ Association continues father Hubert Lanssiers’ work in favor of human rights presenting the tenth ‘Art and Hope’ exhibition entitled ‘Colors and Dreams’. This annual presentation displays the artistic talent of jail inmates of Lima.
Drawings and paintings, which were made by the patients of Víctor Larco Herrera Hospital between 1930 and 1940, will be shown in Peru’s National Library as part of the exhibit “El grabador arequipeño Arturo Madueño y el Maestro de las Calaveras”. The exhibit includes more than 60 works by Arturo Madueño, (who was admitted to this institution on different occasions) and 10 by an anonymous patient.
Photographs, videos and installations are the mediums used in “Re-construídas”, an exhibit featuring Peruvian artist Patricia Villanueva and Spanish artist Pilar Albarracín. Examples of the works featured are Albarracín’s “Escaparates” photograph series, which shows Albarracín ironically interacting with store mannequins, while Villanueva’s play “Rara Avis”, told through photographs and video, tells the story of a women who visits a plastic surgeon and asks that he mark the areas of her body that need surgery. She then goes to a tattoo parlor and makes the markings permanent.
A group of ceramic artists will present the work they have produced this year in an exhibition/sale. Find wonderful pieces of artwork just in time for Christmas. Ceramist Christian Escajadillo will also be exhibiting some pieces that he is working on for his upcoming individual exhibition.
"Un Peruano en las Estrellas", a politically-themed play, is a parody of science-fiction films. In this production, Lucho, an ordinary Peruvian, is mistaken as the savior of the universe in an intergalactic battle that will change history forever. The play touches on ideas of paternal responsibility, love of family, human rights, discrimination and respect for the environment.

As part of the MIRAFOTO festival, photographer Dimitri Wentner presents a collection of his photographs taken in Ethiopia in 2004 and 2005. In his work, we can the multicultural wealth of this country, one of the poorest in the world. He shows us the "primitive" tribes in the south, the muslim community in the east and the orthodox in the north. Wentner invites us to ask "What do these communities and tribes have in common?" and also, "What do they have in common with me?"
The book is considered to be the most essential cultural object. It is a source of knowledge, experiences and recreation. Book fairs aid in the necessary diffusion of these objects. From November 30th until December 12th, book stores from all over will use Parque Kennedy as a way spread this message.

As part of the MIRAFOTO Festival, María Cecilia Piazza and Hans Stoll present their exhibitions “Historias Íntimas” and “Carretera al Sur”. The people that appear in Piazza’s work, as described by writer Alonso Cueto, are “Lonely but not isolated, dark but not blurry, melancholy but not desolate.” Stoll’s series, on the other hand, is defined by Laura Benetti as “a dialogue that initiates the silent future between the observer and the traveler”.
James Barrie’s famous story, Peter Pan, comes to Lima as a musical. The show is full of special effects, beautiful sets, great musical numbers and over 20 artists on stage who will take you on a wonderful journey to Neverland.

It is a charming tale of friendship, starring some of the most beloved characters in children's literature – the hunny-loving Winnie the Pooh and his friends Tigger, Piglet, Eeyore, Rabbit, Kanga, Roo and Owl. Together, they embark on a 'splendiforous' musical journey through the Hundred Acre Wood while planning a surprise birthday party for a distracted Pooh.
Juan Rivera Saavedra's play "El lucero de Belén", under the direction of Mary Oscátegui, is the story of donkey accompanying Joseph, Mary and baby Jesus during their escape to Egypt. He is a special donkey who talks to his owners, but not to others.
The Museo de Arqueología, Antropología e Historia del Perú will exhibit "Hilos del pasado: El aporte francés al legado Paracas", (Threads of the past: The French port to the Paracas legacy). The exhibition is sponsored by the French-Peruvian Foundation and the French Embassy, who recovered the pieces. "Hilos del pasado" has a total of 28 pieces, which six of 40 textiles have been recovered by archaeologist Carmen Thays and her team from the MNAAHP

The result is the complexity of their lifestyle; a sophisticated life which surprises and impresses people of today, much in the same way the noble owners and protagonists of the "Fiesta en la Corte" (Party in the Court) did back then.
Malú Cabellos, a photographer dedicated to photojournalism and licensed by the Sociología por la Universidad Nacional Mayor of San Marcos, offers us his first individual exhibition, "Memoria Inca": a selection of 27 black and white photographs. This work is the result of a project born from a picture: the reencactment of the capture and death of Inca Atahualpa, which marked the beginning of Spanish conquest in Peru.
Patricia Arena presents her second individual exhibition as part of the MIRAFOTO Festival, an avant-garde collection that allows us to observe in an intense and metaphorical way, inspired in the idealist philosophy “to see is to be perceived”; how others perceive us. From her very unique angle, Arena shares her perception of things, people and sensations, and invites each person who sees her work to interpret their own vision of the world.
Magic, comedy, music and color are all part of this grand spectacular which tells the story of a group of Clauns who lost everything in a fire and now face the difficult challenge of starting over. Pablo, Sally, Edo and the spirit of Jose are the protagonists in this tale which highlights the importance of friendship and values between family and between society.

The Alianza Francesa presents Ubu Rey (Ubu the King), an 1896 play by French poet and playwright Alfred Jarry which caused a scandal in its time. Ubu the King tells the story of Papa Ubu who, persuaded by his wife, decides to plot in a conspiracy and become king of Poland. Papa Ubu and his evil wife are two grotesque characters, greedy for power and everything that comes with it. They are determined to reign and are willing to destroy everything that comes in their way.
The Nutcracker (Cascanueces), is a ballet by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky based on 'The Nutcracker and the Mouse King', a story by E.T.A. Hoffmann. Alexandre Dumas' adaptation of the story was set to music by Tchaikovsky. The story follows the adventures of Clara, a young girl who receives a nutcracker from her godfather for Christmas. Together with her new friend, Clara experiences a journey through a world of magic and fantasy. This ballet has become among the most popular ballets performed, primarily around Christmas time.
The results of the most important annual journalistic photography contest in the world will be presented in Lima as part of the MIRAFOTO festival. Over 100 of the winning photographs will be displayed, all of which tour the world as a traveling exhibition which is viewed every year by over two million people in 40 countries.
As part of the MIRAFOTO festival, students of the Universidad Católica studying Communications will present a selection of their work. The exhibition is made up by 50 photographs, both in color and in black and white, and were taken by 30 students who have studied photography in the last few years.

Recognized Peruvian photographer Jorge Deustua presents “En busca de un héroe”, as part of the MIRAFOTO festival. Through these 120 photographs taken between 1975 and 2007 he presents the anonymous inhabitants of Peru, Europe and other American countries, in varied and profoundly human situations, revealing the conflicts and contradictions of modern life.
Take a bus ride like none you've been on before. Perú Vas is a new mobile theater production that takes you through the streets of Lima while you enjoy a fun show. At each stop, a new character will get on, each representing a different stereotype, creating a sarcastic view of the city we live in.
Based on the storytelling tradition, four actors will take us on a journey to near and far places to tell us four different stories. Els Vandell, Alfonso Santistevan, Jorge Eslava and Claudia Aréstegui will use role-play, live music and stories to entertain young and not-so-young audiences alike. It is not only a show that the whole family will laugh and be moved by, it will aims to teach audiences the importance of tolerance, trust and freedom.

This play tells the story of five friends who call themselves “Hi5” who are on an important mission: to teach the importance of reading by showing children to use their imagination so that they are able to create their own stories, characters and worlds. However, Tica and Squib will try to stop them from achieving this. The story is accompanied by music and kids will learn about the five senses, animals, new games, etc.
The Centro Cultural de la Católica presents the musical “Chimoc, the hairless dog”, based on Claudia and Andrea Paz’s children’s book which tells the story of a hairless Peruvian dog who is ashamed of being different. Chimoc tries to hide using a superheroe outfit, until one day an annoying flea forces him to take it off, beginning new adventures and discoveries. Throughout the story, Chimoc learns to love himself the way he is, teaching children the importance of friendship and self-esteem.
There is nothing more pathetic than talented losers, and this musical tragic comedy is the story of three of them. They each have a great dream that they will never achieve. Griselda is beautiful and only wishes for Canuto’s love. Canuto has a brilliant mind but only wants money. Pedro Pablo (who is probably talented, but even he doesn’t know in what way), dreams of being a successful musician. When these three come together, a series of disasters occur in their attempt to achieve their dreams. In the sewer (the perfect setting for losers), between songs and garbage, they will compose the perfect soundtrack to their lives.
Roberto Ángeles directs “Mas Cerca”, an urban play, modern in appearance, which hides a painful, sad background. It concentrates on the relationships between four people who are lovers, irresponsible, innocent, cowards, mysterious, greedy and arrogant. British dramatist Patrick Marber wrote the play, which features Dan, Alice, Ana and Larry, four characters whose lives intermingle in this piece which shows the reality of relationships.
Cuenta Cuentos (Teller of Tales) is a character who aside from recounting stories of witches, princesses and magicians, also interprets them. During the end of the show, he asks the audience to join him on stage to help him tell his tale of amazing adventures!
