Tragicomedic Stories – Mime Show

XVII Concurso Nacional de Artistas Jóvenes – Art Exhibition
The ICPNA Arequipa presents an art show featuring the winners of the XVII national young artists' contest. Initiatives such as this competition are truly important as they provide an opportunity for new artists to make themselves known. The organizing committee has been very pleased to find 345 pieces were entered in the competition by no less than 250 artists from various parts of the country. 23 pieces will be shown, amongst which will be the three winners and the three honorary mentions. Radiochu – Exhibition
Young Peruvian artist, Valentino Sibadon, presents his second art exhibit in Lima. Once again he offers a display of interesting pieces featuring his main character Radiochu, a cross between the logo from the music band Radiohead and the yellow Pokemon, Pikachu. Far from displaying traditional art, this show promises to be quite an experience. When: January 8th to January 29th

Mujeres/Moldes, Moldes Mujeres - Exhibition
"Mujeres/Moldes, Moldes Mujeres" is the first solo exhibition by plastic and photography artist Sonia Cunliffe. In it, she explores the human figure through their "essence and appearance". Through the fusion of two languages, photography and paintings, flourescent lighting and the emphasis of rough paper applications, Cunliffe hopes to evoke feelings of happiness, dissatisfaction and nostalgia.Where: Gallery Vértice - Ernesto Plascencia 350, San Isidro

Tres Arenas – Exhibition
The artist Ricardo Wiesse bases his most recent paintings and collages on Pachacamac, one of Peru's most important pre-Hispanic sanctuaries. The landscapes along the coast and the desert mystique inspired Wiesse into creating a collection of abstract paintings, collages and images of the main pilgrimage center in the Peruvian coast. The artist aims to help promote pro-nature movements with his art by establishing a cultural community that has respect for its past, its environment, its history and its natural resources such as oxygen and water. Emerging Processes - Exhibition
Seven Peruvian architects working in the UK present an exhibition showing new tendencies in art and architecture based on recent technological tools. The spectator will be able to go through the “life of a project” in a dynamic and interactive way, seeing the final results in cities like London, Seville and Dubai. The participating architects will be: Alberto Domínguez, Federico Dunkelberg, Sophie Le Bienvenu, Mariana Leguía, Maia Lemlij, Lucía Pflucker and Vladimir Kalinoswki, all of whom studied in Peru.When: Monday through Saturday, 9 am – 1 pm and 2 pm – 8 pm, Sundays 2 pm – 8 pm

Refugio - Exhibition
Ishmael Randall Weeks will present his exhibition "Refugio" at the Galeria Lucia de la Puente. The display will feature drawings, objects and scaled models. For this exhibition, Randall will intend to demonstrate the artistic process of drawing in a studio. I feel so extraordinary - Exhibition
After more than 10 years, Peruvian artist Aldo Chaparro, who is based in Mexico, brings us a new exhibition: I FEEL SO EXTRAORDINARY. The display will include sculpture, installations and photography, all of which are inspired by music. Bendita Seas - Exhibition
"Bendita Seas" is an individual exhibition by Argentine artist Carlos Masoch. The presentation features a series of works which describe "exemplary lives" and "savage life". He dedicates the works to those who "have beaten adversity" and to the others who only "feed their stomachs and wallets". Rediseñando el Diseño - Exhibition
The exhibition "Rediseñando el Diseño" presents work from the graphic design students of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. The show features a great variety of projects and pieces made in 2006, which illustrate the possibilities of graphic design: as mediums of communication, editorial and corporation communication, multimedia, audiovisuals and graphic production of textiles and objects.

Piazza and Stoll – Photography Exhibition
As part of the MIRAFOTO Festival, María Cecilia Piazza and Hans Stoll present their exhibitions “Historias Íntimas” and “Carretera al Sur”. The people that appear in Piazza’s work, as described by writer Alonso Cueto, are “Lonely but not isolated, dark but not blurry, melancholy but not desolate.” Stoll’s series, on the other hand, is defined by Laura Benetti as “a dialogue that initiates the silent future between the observer and the traveler”.When: 10 am – 7:30 pm on Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am – 6 pm on Sundays, until January 20th.

Hilos del pasado - Exhibition
The Museo de Arqueología, Antropología e Historia del Perú will exhibit "Hilos del pasado: El aporte francés al legado Paracas", (Threads of the past: The French port to the Paracas legacy). The exhibition is sponsored by the French-Peruvian Foundation and the French Embassy, who recovered the pieces. "Hilos del pasado" has a total of 28 pieces, which six of 40 textiles have been recovered by archaeologist Carmen Thays and her team from the MNAAHPWhen: Until January 25, Tuesday to Sunday, 9:30 am - 5 pm
