“El clima cambia, mi vida también” is the name of the photography exhibit that shows the changes in the environment and how it's starting to affect the lives of many Peruvians, through 30 photographs and testimonies. "The journey has allowed me to see that the change in environment is a reality in Peru. However, it's important that we learn from the residents, who are the nucleus of this exhibition, and how they adapt their lifestyles against the negative and positive affects." - Photographer Thomas Mueller.
The Municipality of Lima presents "Festival de Lima: International music and dances" at the Teatro Segura. Participants include artists from Mexico, Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador, Trinidad and Tobago and Peru. More than 500 dancers and musicians will take part in this celebration. A few are the Ballet Folklórico "Fiesta Mexicana", Ballet Cultural "América Andina" and Ballet Folklórico "Perú Ritmo y Color".
This is a cycling-trekking trip in San Juan de Iris, which is at 3,400 m.a.s.l. and offers excellent opportunities to visit the archaeological site named "Machu Picchito" (little Machu Picchu) on the mountain atop the town. Also enjoy the local site museum beside the scenic beauty of the Andean spring season rich in flora and fauna. There are reports of frequent flying condors in this region. Cycling starts at the Casta – Iris roads crossing. Departure is early on the 1st, return will be late on the 2nd.
The company “Ferrocarril Central Andino” will be offering train services to Huancayo for the Labor Day holidays. The trip lasts 12 hours and includes three tourism stops. Trains will be leaving on Thursday May 1st and will return to Lima on Sunday 4th.
"La Joven Gráfica Polaca" is an exhibition most representative of contemporary Polish graphic design. The style, which is considered one of the most creative in Europe, will bring together 17 pieces from young artists such as Joanna Malecka, Viola Tycz, Lucas Cywicki, Andrzej Hoffman, Moniak Krzyzanowska, Tomasz Daniel, Artur Widurski, Anna Sadowska and Danuta Gibka among others. The store also presents its "RE-UNIÓN" exhibition, in which four generations of a creative family present unique handmade objects such as dolls, purses, accessories, clothes and more.
"Quobo: Arte en Berlín 1989-1999" is the Museo de Arte de Lima 's (MALI) next exhibition which features works from 14 artists from a generation that transformed social and artistic standards in Germany. The exhibition, which is one of the largest ever dedicated to German art in Peru, has been shown in countries such as China, Mexico, Bulgaria, New Zealand and now it's finally reached Peru.

Artco Galería in San Isidro presents Consuelo Ginnari's exhibition, "Circulares". The Venezuelan artist has studied at the Heatherley School of Fine Arts in London and has numerous solo exhibitions shown in his native Venezuela.
The Centro Cultural Britanico presents the exhibition "Gasas y Reticulados Chancay", a collection from the Museo Amano. The pieces featured are from the Chancay civilization of Peru which existed from 1200 - 1470 d.c. in the Chancay Valley, north of Lima. They specialized in textiles, as evident by the works in this collection.
A Peruvian man and woman chat in London, a city famous for its ghosts. During their conversation, in which they remember the good and bad moments of the past 35 years, many ghosts appear, and both their lives begin to reveal secrets as in a detective story. This meeting allows them, and perhaps their audience, to discover who they are.
Recognized Spanish photographer Fernando Moleres presents an exhibition about child labor under the title “El trabajo infantil no es un juego de niños” (Child labor is no child’s play). This collection of photographs shows the raw reality that children from over 30 countries live in, though according to the artist, they only display “the surface of this harsh drama.” The exhibition has been presented around Europe and is coming to Latin America for the first time.
Artist Diego Lama presents his fourth individual exhibition, takes a bold and original look at the reciprocal relationship between cinematography and plastic arts. He approaches this analogy through photography and video art, both of which use cinema as a medium and a cultural experience, defying its formal aspects and subverting its traditional interpretations.
Peruvian artist Manuel Lau, who currently resides in Canada, presents a playful vision about coexistence, multiculturalism and life. In these pieces, created between 2006 and 2007 in the Circulaire Workshop in Montreal, men, dogs and cats, mix and play in a state of passiveness and movement. Iconography from the Peruvian rainforest are also incorporated in these images.
Larcomar's Teatro La Plaza ISIL is proud to present Martin McDonagh's "The Lieutenant of Inishmore". The black comedy tells the story of an Irish National Liberation Army enforcer, violent and who shows no mercy, except to his little black cat called Wee Thomas - the only thing in this world which he loves. The cast features Rodrigo Sánchez Patiño, Alfonso Santistevan, Rómulo Assereto, Gisela Ponce de León, Mario Velásquez, Daniel Neuman, Gerardo García and Laszlo Kovacs.
The Patronato Plata del Perú proudly presents the opening of the Salón de la Platería Peruana en Surco (Hall of Peruvian Silver in Surco). The objective of this institution is to increase the use of silver in Peru and spread the work done by Peruvian silver artists and artisans. The hall features a selection 36 beautiful pieces of contemporary silver, which have traveled the world in other exhibitions held in Argentina, China, Finland and Spain, to name a few.
The Sala de Arte Felipe Cossío del Pomar in San Isidro will host the exhibition "Nueve Visiones" (Nine Visions), which will feature pieces by nine Peruvian artists. Those who will have works displayed are: Elke McDonald, Patricia Orbegoso, Mariana Riveros, Ana Teresa Barbosa, José Gómez, Hernán Sosa, Joseph Firbas, Jhonny Morote and Fernando Guembes. This collection is part of an international-exchange the artists have coordinated with art galleries in Texas, U.S.
Plastic artist Orlando Izquierdo, also known as "El Tigrillo", will present his latest exhibit at the Centro Cultural de San Marcos. The exhibition, "Homenaje a César Vallejo por los 75 años de su muerte", is a tribute to the renowned Peruvian poet César Vallejo. Izquierdo, a native of Moyobamba, presents 50 paintings which represent scenes in Vallejo's life.
Herbert Rodriguez's individual exhibition "Insumisión" unites pieces of his collection which continue to reflect the relationship between art and society in the 80's. The display features digital images, collages, paintings, paper sculptures and more, which Rodriguez believes denounce the "normality of abnormality".
The exhibition "Toma Urbana #2" is by Renzo Nuñez Melgar, a student and recipient of the Silver Medal of the Escuela de Bella Artes 2006. In this individual exhibition, Nuñez Melgar brings forth a take on scenes which mark our everyday and images which determine the way in which we perceive ourselves as a society.
Peruvian painter Oswaldo Higuchi, who has had many individual exhibitions in Peru, Chile, Uruguay, Japan and Canada--brings his latest display to the Centro Cultural Peruano Japonés. Higuchi: "To be an immigrant is to be free, is to see new horizons, is to move with the wind, to confront the unknown... it is to live."

More than an exhibition of beautiful images, it's the state of places in our world, with pedagogical elements to help us understand and preserve earth. "La Tierra Vista desde el Cielo" features 120 aerial photographs which represent a balance of the planet during the beginning of the new millennium.
"Jueves Sangrientos" (Bloody Thursday) at Miraflores' Satchmo will feature the Peruvian group Frágil who will be playing their hits, along with a selection of covers. The group, who has been together for 25 years, consists of members Luis Valderrama (guitar), César Bustamante (bass), Andrés Dulude (vocals), Jorge Durand (drums) and Tavo Castillo (keyboards, flute, vocals). Accompanied by distinguished Cuban and national musicians, saxofonist Ruso Gennady returns to our country's capital for four nights of music at Jazz Zone. The Funk and R&B artist lived in Peru for some time and is returning to play here because he considers it his second home. He will be joined by Laureano Rigol (Cuba) on drums and percussion, Jorge Luis Cárdenas (Cuba) on piano, Ernesto Hermoza and Omar Rojas (Peru) on guitar and bass, and José Chiriboga on Tablas Hindúes
“Mona a la medida” is an exhibition by plastic artist Hernán Sosa. For this display, Sosa took as his inspiration the famous "La Gioconda" painting by Leonardo Da Vinci during the Renaissance period. Also known as the "Mona Lisa", the painting is known for its mysteries, such as: who was model, the ambiguity on her face, the landscape in the background, and ultimately, the technique used in creating the piece. With "Mona a la Medida" Sosa delves into those mysteries.
The Museo de Arte de Lima (MALI) presents "Never Endings": an exhibition by contemporary artist Cornelia Parker of Cheshire, England. The display features close to 30 pieces in formats such as photography, video, sculpture and installations. "Never Endings" deals with "the study of objects and phenomenons that are out of reach of human control." Parker takes everyday objects and transforms them into extraordinary products in this exhibition.
Ivana Ferrer presents her third individual exhibition, "Territorios" (territories), at the Galería Lucía de la Puente. This time, "Ivana takes food images as pretext and presents them as a series of maps that show the process of drawing which results in a painting. The artist uses the term "territorio" not only as the physical place a person owns, but also personal space, such as ideas, emotions, etc; a world that is intangible."
A party that's totally Cuban and designed for singles to have fun, "Noche Cubana Para Solteras y Solteros" (Cuban Night for Singles) at the Pub Cubano will be a night full of surprises, good drinks, games and more. (Establishment suggests men wear white shirts).
Yuyachkani, a quechua word which means "I'm thinking, I'm remembering" is the name the internationally-recognized Peruvian theater group. They will present "El Ultimo Ensayo", which deals with a group of artists who unite to honor a classic artist who has triumphed world wide through their music from Peru. The story shows the groups' relationships, their conflicting visions of Peru and a taste of the human condition.
What Lorena Pestana--architect by profession, designer by vocation--presents in this small exhibit, represents her vision and experience in art, contemporary design, as well as iconography and traditional techniques. Her creative adventures in jewelry-making began in the community of Alto Marañón and from their she continued her explorations which ultimately led to this exhibition, "Tejidos y Fulgores".
The Galería Enlace Arte Contemporáneo presents, "Si no existe el más alla, la injusticia del pobre se prolonga enternamente" a photography exhibition by the MR group. The group, formed by Peruvian photographer Marina García Burgos, presents 16 color photographs that touch on themes of social injustice and racism in this country. The group "placed the victim of racism in the 'exclusive' space reserved for the racist."
Lika Mutal and Gam Klutier, outstading Dutch artists living in Peru, will present an exhibition of their best works as one of the cultural activities programmed for the EU-LAC Summit to be held in Peru. Lika Mutal’s "Pulso de la Montaña", is made up of twelve sculptures made in various types of stone. Gam Klutier will present “Señales de Luz” with large paintings in acrylic.
Set in a suburb in the 50’s, two girls and two boys entering puberty begin to live their first adult experiences, with their passions, pain, and the inevitable contact with betrayal that destroys their paradise. 10-year-old Ruben is very curious about the world around him, but sometimes his parents and friends can't satisfy his demands. Ruben finds refuge in imagining that he is Misterix, a superhero, and through him he can imagine that he in handsome, tall and strong, that women adore him, and of course, that he doesn't need those stupid glasses. However, in growing up, Ruben will soon have to accept reality, and say goodbye to Misterix, and the omnipotence that came with him, forever.
