A traves del horizonte – Exhibition

“A través del horizonte” (Through the horizon) presents a varied selection of drawings, paintings, engravings, ceramics and “retablos” created by Lima artist Alfonso Respaldiza Rojas (1945 – 1991). Respaldiza was one of the Peruvian artists that questioned the uncomfortable divide in Peruvian art between “cultural” and “popular.” His reinterpretation of rural icons and elements show the social and political changes our country went through between the end of the 60’s and the beginning of the 80’s.

Peruanos y peruanas como tu – Photography Exhibition

“Peruanos y peruanas como tú” (Peruvians like you) presents a series of photographs portraying people in various jobs or activities typical of Lima (taxi driver, combi singer, maids, etc.). These images show us the resources people have had to use in order to get through difficult economic times. The photographs will be accompanied by a video that begins a dialogue through the images. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, Cecilia Podestá, creator of the exhibition, will be there to print out the photographs that the audience choose.

Belinda Tami - Art Exhibition

After two years in Europe, Belinda Tami has returned to Lima to present a year and a half’s worth of work. These 18 large format paintings, where she begins to incorporate grays, whites and yellows into her palate, demonstrate the maturity of the techniques she’s been exploring these past years.

Box - Contemporary Dance

Performance Art choreographer Guillermo Castrillón explores womens’ roles from different perspectives. The performers will include dancers Pachi Valle Riestra, Carola Robles, Cori Cruz, Cristina Velarde and Mónica Silva. The objective of this piece is to show a woman’s world from its dark side; the mysterious and unknown which has puzzled historians and specialists throughout history, that which comes from the power of maternity and the differences between men and women.

La Papa - Exhibition

This exhibition presents the winning pieces of the Visual Arts Competition organized to commemorate the International Year of the Potato. This will include the two winning works, “My fair Lady Huamantanga (Naturaleza muerta)” an installation by Giuliana Migliori and “El cuarto del rescate” by artists Maria Teresa Ascoy, Jorge Polar and Guillermo Quiroz, as well as the pieces that obtained honorary mentions. These pieces were chosen out of 126 works to pay tribute to the potato, Peru’s emblematic tuber, one of the eight most important on the planet.

El Zorrito Audaz 3: Peligro en la Selva

“El Zorrito Audaz 3” is the final chapter of Celeste Viale’s trilogy. On this occasion, Blas has the great responsibility of keeping the promise he made his friend the snail: getting and delivering the medicine that will save the baby ‘taricaya’ turtles. However, he must first win the 2nd Grand Dancing Competition. The Taruca is sure she will be the champion, and in a moment of vain exhibition, falls in a mortal trap set by hunters. The animals must now decide whether to risk their lives to save the Taruca, or run away, leaving behind all their hopes and dreams.

Misericordia - Theater

One day after the tragic terrorist attacks of September 11th, Ben is in his lover, Abby’s, apartment. On TV the images of the chaotic day play over and over, as Ben avoids answering his wife’s insistent cell phone calls, while Abby complains about his lack of sensitivity towards the terrorist attacks. Ben finds an opportunity in this chaos: creating a new identity and running away with his lover. While the people in the city try to escape a tragedy, Ben wants to run from responsibility, and Abby tries to escape her need to be loved.

Lero Lero – Theater for Children

Three clown children go to school. When Ruthy gets punished for trying to cheat, her friends stay behind to keep her company, and they begin creating fun stories about friendship and honesty. These stories will be accompanied by games and songs for the children to participate in, while learning new skills and values.

Al Pie del Tamesis - Theater

A Peruvian man and woman chat in London, a city famous for its ghosts. During their conversation, in which they remember the good and bad moments of the past 35 years, many ghosts appear, and both their lives begin to reveal secrets as in a detective story. This meeting allows them, and perhaps their audience, to discover who they are.

Goodbye Cinema – Exhibition

Artist Diego Lama presents his fourth individual exhibition, takes a bold and original look at the reciprocal relationship between cinematography and plastic arts. He approaches this analogy through photography and video art, both of which use cinema as a medium and a cultural experience, defying its formal aspects and subverting its traditional interpretations.

Hombres, Perros y Gatos - Exhibition

Peruvian artist Manuel Lau, who currently resides in Canada, presents a playful vision about coexistence, multiculturalism and life. In these pieces, created between 2006 and 2007 in the Circulaire Workshop in Montreal, men, dogs and cats, mix and play in a state of passiveness and movement. Iconography from the Peruvian rainforest are also incorporated in these images.

Lika Mutal and Gam Klutier - Exhibition

Lika Mutal and Gam Klutier, outstading Dutch artists living in Peru, will present an exhibition of their best works as one of the cultural activities programmed for the EU-LAC Summit to be held in Peru. Lika Mutal’s "Pulso de la Montaña", is made up of twelve sculptures made in various types of stone. Gam Klutier will present “Señales de Luz” with large paintings in acrylic.

La Familia Fernandez – Theater for Children

La Familia Fernandez shows us the daily life of a family, with great simplicity and subtle humor. Tati, Sofi and Micky question their parents from a child’s point of view, showing us their dreams, personal secrets, games, solidarity, and other values. This is a musical comedy that everyone in the family can identify with and enjoy.

Narices y Calzones - Theater

Since their last show, "Las Marías" have gotten new jobs, new boyfriends, have broken up with them, moved, been on diets, and gone on with their lives. Now they are back with their new show "Narices y Calzones", where they show us their neurotic and explosive side. They've faced vertigo and have given into their fears and secret pleasures. Proceeds from this event go to "Bola Roja", a group of clowns who visit sick children in hospitals.

Pinocho - Theater for children

An old man named Gepetto creates a wooden puppet called Pinocchio, and wishes he would have life. His fairy godmother decides to grant his wish, but leaves him in his wooden body, assigning Jiminy Cricket as his conscience. Unfortunately, Pinocchio doesn't listen to him and gets into trouble because he wants to become a real boy. This classic tale comes to life on stage to entertain the entire family.

Hansel and Gretel - Theater for Children

Hansel and Gretel are the children of a poor lumberjack. Afraid of hunger, their stepmother convinces their father to take them into the woods and abandon them. Hearing her plan, the chidren collect little white pebbles and leave a path to guide them home. Once they return, their stepmother sends them back into the woods, but this time, they only have breadcrumbs to leave behind. The forest animals eat these and Hansel and Gretel lose their way. How will they get back home?

Despite that, he has a generous heart and is willing to put himself in danger to save his beloved Jasmine. His life will take a big turn when he finds a genie in a lamp.
