Novalima is a production collective created in 2001 by four Peruvian musicians based in Barcelona, Hong Kong, London and Lima. Its music is heavily-driven by Afro-Peruvian and Latin percussions, blended with downtempo, dub, broken and housebeats. They will play Barranco’s "La Noche" this December 22nd.

Del Mito al Sueño: Rodin…Dali – Exhibition

Famous for representing man in the arts, Rodin and Dali have changed the way we see sculpture today. With Rodin’s influence expressing emotions in his work and Dali’s influence using the unconscious mind as an essential part of life, they both created lasting work that have inspired other sculptors from around the world. Presenting sculptures from six different artists, the Museo de Arte Italiano will take its prestigious and most important exhibit to Lima for the next couple of weeks.

Proyecto Camaleonidas – Exhibition

The Alianza Francesa is proud to present “Proyecto Camaleónidas” (Project Camaleonidas) an exhibition by recognized artist Erick Miraval. The chameleon’s natural ability to camouflage itself against any background works as a metaphor for the human ability to adapt to its environment. Erick Miraval’s paintings serve as a social commentary as to the loss of identity and individuality in our global community.

Estacion de luz… Ultimas especies – Exhibition

José Antonio “Cuco” Morales’ new exhibit “Estación de luz… Últimas especies” (Season of light… Last species) acts as a social commentary on the damage mankind is inflicting on nature. With over a dozen works on display ranging from medium to large formats Cuco Morales displays nature captured in its primary colors. Images of idyllic forests and lonely trails cutting through them are only a part of what this exhibit has to offer.

IX Festival de Teatro Peruano Norteamericano – Theater

Tribute to José Carlos Mariátegui - Forum

Today La Casa Museo José Carlos Mariátegui, from INC, and the Asociación Amigos de Mariátegui come together to pay tribute to Peruvian journalist José Carlos Mariátegui. He is known for his most famous work, 7 ensayos de interpretación de la realidad peruana, which celebrates its 80th anniversary this year. Mariátegui is considered one of the most influential Latin American socialists of the 20th century. This event will have various writers discussing Mariátegui’s socialist ideals and its impact on Peruvian culture. Speakers include Estuardo Núñez, David Sobrevilla, Raimundo Prado, César Germaná, Martín Bergel (Argentina), and many more from Peru and elsewhere. Señales de Luz - Exhibition

Dutch artist Gam Klutier presents “Señales de Luz” (Signs of Light). In this exhibit the artist incorporates different techniques such as serigraphy, aluminum sculpting and painting. Klutier creates an imaginary world filled with playful characters and animals painted in his signature blue, yellow, black and white. The looseness in the artist’s work creates free and expressive lines which all together allow for a spiritual undertone.

Then attend the Concurso Interescolar del Arte Mali and you’ll see how school children are participating in Peru’s local art scene in this  amazing contest. This isn’t some kiddie art contest that deals with popsicle sticks and cotton balls, there will be singing, dancing, music, painters, sculptors and more. In his seventh solo exhibition, Luis Castellanos has captivated the audiences with his unique style of drawing and animation. Here to present his latest work, Espejismos, Castellanos reinvents his own version of Guernica by famed artist Pablo Picasso. In it, he explores certain architectures brought up in the original artwork but injects a basis of today’s general society. A laugh out loud comedy on the customs of a common Peruvian family, Peruchos is a production by Peruvians for Peruvians. The story centers around a close-knit family who unfortunately find themselves in some financial trouble. In order to afford the house they're living in, they decided to put up part of their house for rent. Watch how the family struggles to live with new people coming from different backgrounds.

Festival de Títeres: Los Tres Chanchitos – Children’s Theater

It’s the classic tale of the Three Little Pigs like you’ve never seen before, literally! In this new children’s play, the three little pigs invited the big bad wolf to a puppet in order to befriend him. Not knowing what a puppet show is, the wolf decides to go so that he may have a chance to eat the pigs when they let their guard down. But while the wolf embarks on his mission to eat the pigs a small problem arises that diverts the wolf’s mission.

Wild on Night – Bus Ride

8th Annual Exposition Casa Cor Peru 2008

Peruvian cultural is growing, not just in the gastronomy or fabric industry, but also in interior design. Casa Cor Peru is promoting just that with its eighth exhibition to be held in Barranco, where two houses were redesigned to visually present how Peru can tap into the interior design industry. Casa Cor Peru will feature 82 artists who will present their exhibit at this event with their works influenced by all the regions of Peru and around the world. This is also the first time Casa Cor Peru will be working with restaurants, Schiaffino Gastronòmica and La Memoria del Sabor, to get together and exchange ideas with atendees.
