Titina, by Nicolás Yerovi, is a comedy fusing theater, music, dance, tourism, gastronomy and history, telling the love story of a young couple in Barranco of 1908. The play takes place on the streets of Barranco, where the actors and spectators will visit historical landmarks such as the Plazuela de San Francisco, the Puente de los Suspiros and the railway, all while following Titina’s family and their crazy adventures. The experience ends at the Posada del Angel II restaurant, where the actors and guests have lunch together.
Novalima is a production collective created in 2001 by four Peruvian musicians based in Barcelona, Hong Kong, London and Lima. Its music is heavily-driven by Afro-Peruvian and Latin percussions, blended with downtempo, dub, broken and housebeats. They will play Barranco’s "La Noche" this December 22nd.

Famous for representing man in the arts, Rodin and Dali have changed the way we see sculpture today. With Rodin’s influence expressing emotions in his work and Dali’s influence using the unconscious mind as an essential part of life, they both created lasting work that have inspired other sculptors from around the world. Presenting sculptures from six different artists, the Museo de Arte Italiano will take its prestigious and most important exhibit to Lima for the next couple of weeks.
“Maldita Sea” (Damn it) is the new book by author Julie de Trazegnies. In it Trazegnies deals with the limits of reality and our sense of right and wrong. “Damn it” is a form of protest against life and its ephemeral and sometimes cruel nature. The book serves as an exploration of human nature and its themes are those of everyday life.

"Visualmente… Vinilos" (Visual… Vinals) showcases vinyl covers from the most important and influential bands of the 60s, 70s and 80s. The exhibit displays the development of the music industry and its aesthetic through three decades of album covers. Alberto Candida serves as curator for this exhinit which illustrates the development of a bands character through its covers and the loss of this art form with the creation of the CD and the LP.

The Philharmonic Society is proud to present Brazilian violinist Daniel Guedes. This is Guedes’ first time performing in Lima. He forms part of American pianist Richard Bishop’s recital. Bishop is a distinguished piano soloist and chamber musician. The performance will include Beethoven’s “Spring” Sonata Nº 5 op. 24, Schumann’s “Fantasy Pieces” op. 73, Brahms’ Sonata Nº 3 and “Two Spanish Dances” by Sarasate.

The Alianza Francesa is proud to present “Proyecto Camaleónidas” (Project Camaleonidas) an exhibition by recognized artist Erick Miraval. The chameleon’s natural ability to camouflage itself against any background works as a metaphor for the human ability to adapt to its environment. Erick Miraval’s paintings serve as a social commentary as to the loss of identity and individuality in our global community.

José Antonio “Cuco” Morales’ new exhibit “Estación de luz… Últimas especies” (Season of light… Last species) acts as a social commentary on the damage mankind is inflicting on nature. With over a dozen works on display ranging from medium to large formats Cuco Morales displays nature captured in its primary colors. Images of idyllic forests and lonely trails cutting through them are only a part of what this exhibit has to offer.

So for lovers of abstract may want to see Ana Osorio Velit’s latest, VISCERAL, complete with 12 new paintings from the artist. Expect to see a wide range of colors in Osorio Velit’s art as she clearly demonstrates her talent and techinques in each piece.
The Teatro Peruano Norteamericano’s 9th annual theatre festival is staging four new plays. The festival looks to give support to talented Peruvian dramatists by selecting and presenting the best works submitted. This year’s plays were rigorously selected by a specialized jury and will be showcased by the ICPNA. The winning pieces are “Paradero Final” (Final Stop) by Miguel Barreda; “Cacúmenes” by Alejandro Alva; Independencia (Independence) by Lee Blessing; and Ilusos (Dreamers) by Gilberto Nué Palma.
Dutch artist Gam Klutier presents “Señales de Luz” (Signs of Light). In this exhibit the artist incorporates different techniques such as serigraphy, aluminum sculpting and painting. Klutier creates an imaginary world filled with playful characters and animals painted in his signature blue, yellow, black and white. The looseness in the artist’s work creates free and expressive lines which all together allow for a spiritual undertone.

In his seventh solo exhibition, Luis Castellanos has captivated the audiences with his unique style of drawing and animation. Here to present his latest work, Espejismos, Castellanos reinvents his own version of Guernica by famed artist Pablo Picasso. In it, he explores certain architectures brought up in the original artwork but injects a basis of today’s general society. A challenging piece from this contemporary artist, be sure to catch Espejismos on display at ARTCO.
The French Embassy is proud to present its 11th annual art exhibition which brings together the works of all the “Pasaporte para un Artista” (Passport for an Artist) finalists. This is a nation wide visual arts competition which allows artist who specialize in different artistic techniques a chance to show their work. This year includes participants from Arequipa, Cuzco, Trujillo and Lima. The three main goals behind Pasaporte para un Artista are to support artistic creativity in all it’s forms, introduce a new generation of artists and encourage a French-Peruvian artistic exchange. This year’s winner is Maya Watanabe, followed by runners-up Nancy la Rosa and Harry Chávez
Sculpture Cristina Planas will be showcasing her latest work, La Migracion de los Santos at the Vertice Galería de Arte, her third exhibition at the gallery. Four of her sculptures will be on display with the theme of illusions and the realizations of one's dreams.
A laugh out loud comedy on the customs of a common Peruvian family, Peruchos is a production by Peruvians for Peruvians. The story centers around a close-knit family who unfortunately find themselves in some financial trouble. In order to afford the house they're living in, they decided to put up part of their house for rent. Watch how the family struggles to live with new people coming from different backgrounds.
The Naval Museum of Peru (Callao) is celebrating its 50th anniversary with an exhibition in the British Cultural Center. The Marine’s historical heritage includes figureheads from ship’s prows, shields, war trophies, weapons, miniature ship models, photographs, oil paintings and watercolors. This exhibition brings art and history together, showing that time transforms objects of life and war into pieces of art.
Now there's more added to the bunch. Aside from Tito (Gabriel Iglesias) and Pepe (Luis Alberto Céspedes), La Impro have three newest members - Christian Ysla, Magdiel Ugaz and Guillermo Castañeda. This year, Lima’s European Film Festival comes to its XXth edition, featuring 45 films and 21 short films from Belgium, the Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Spain, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Rumania, Finland, Sweden, United Kingdom and Switzerland as a guest country. The festival will take place in 11 Peruvian cities, bringing a different and necessary kind of cinema to the Peruvian people, films that show the sensitivity and intelligence of their creators.
The British-Peruvian Cultural Association presents Peter Shaffer’s “Amadeus.” Antonio Salieri is the most respected musician in Viena at the end of the XVIIIth century until the arrival of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart changes his life forever. Salieri realizes his own mediocrity and Mozart’s amazing talent, so he decides to destroy the man that he sees as God’s instrument on Earth. War is declared, and Mozart is the battle field.
The Centro Cultural de España presents "Fricciones y Conflictos en Iberoamerica", a photography exhibition which takes a look at violence, climate change, and various realities of Latin America. This exhibition is part of the project "Laberinto de Miradas" made up of over 260 photographs which will tour various American and European countries until 2010.
Hollywoodpedia, created by Mexican artist Artemio, is an audiovisual compilation of twelve American films which take a look at sets of values and concepts such as love-hate, success-failure, life-death, happiness-sadness, war-peace and good-evil. Artemio uses the scenes, actors' gestures, set, music, etc., to flaunt these films' contradictions.
Sculptor Michiko Aoki will be presenting his latest work, Fondo sin fin, at the Yvonne Sanguineti art and design gallery. Aoki's takes a look into the human perception of infinte states. Each work is as contriving as the next. This artist has held showcases around the world from Japan to the United States, from Canada to right here in Lima.

Casa Cor Peru is promoting just that with its eighth exhibition to be held in Barranco, where two houses were redesigned to visually present how Peru can tap into the interior design industry. Casa Cor Peru will feature 82 artists who will present their exhibit at this event with their works influenced by all the regions of Peru and around the world. This is also the first time Casa Cor Peru will be working with restaurants, Schiaffino Gastronòmica and La Memoria del Sabor, to get together and exchange ideas with atendees.

Don Juan Tenorio, the mythical character featured in the most celebrated plays of Spanish writer Jose Zorrilla, reappears in Lima at the Museum Cemetery Presbítero Maestro Matías. The show is directed by Myriam Reátegui and produced by the Cultural Center of Spain.
