Titina - Theater

Titina, by Nicolás Yerovi, is a comedy fusing theater, music, dance, tourism, gastronomy and history, telling the love story of a young couple in Barranco of 1908. The play takes place on the streets of Barranco, where the actors and spectators will visit historical landmarks such as the Plazuela de San Francisco, the Puente de los Suspiros and the railway, all while following Titina’s family and their crazy adventures. The experience ends at the Posada del Angel II restaurant, where the actors and guests have lunch together.

Olga Tañon - Concert

Olga Tañon, nicknamed “La Mujer de Fuego” (The Woman of Fire) returns to Peru on her tour “Evolution Tour 2008” celebrating her 20th year as a performer. She will perform 40 songs from her successful music career that over the last two decades have made her the indisputable queen of salsa and merengue. Her concert will include outstanding scenery and costume changes, as well as vibrant choreographies to accompany her powerful voice and stage presence.

Novalima - Concert

Novalima is a production collective created in 2001 by four Peruvian musicians based in Barcelona, Hong Kong, London and Lima. Its music is heavily-driven by Afro-Peruvian and Latin percussions, blended with downtempo, dub, broken and housebeats. They will play Barranco’s "La Noche" this December 22nd.

Film Night: Las Doce Sillas

40 Lotes - Exhibition


Celebrating its 40th anniversary, The Engraving Specialty of the Art Faculty of the PUCP is presenting this exhibition, where the word "lote" (lot) conceptualizes an space of construction and change. The exhibition shows the advances that this specialty has gone through in the past forty years, from a perspective that includes and integrates other areas of art and sciences.

Luz de las entrañas - Exhibit

El Ojo Ajeno gallery presents Morfi Jimenez’s “Luz de las entrañas” (Light from within). Jimenez is one of ten photographers to win the 2008 Hasselblad Masters Award. The images on display in this exhibit are a poetic reflection of the Cuzco peasant community. The technique used by Jimenez, the use of artificial lighting and later the color treatment of his images, allow him to play with reality giving his work a surreal esthetic.

Madame Butterfly – Opera

Madame Butterfly is a Japanese tragedy in three acts. In order to celebrate 150 years of Giacomo Puccini Madame Butterfly will be performed on four separate occasions by a talented cast made up of Peruvian and international artists.  The national Choir and the Prolyric Orchestra directed by Marco Titotto form part of the performance. Distinguished Japanese soprano Hiroko Morita is Madame Butterfly to Uruguayan tenor Juan Carlos Valls’ Lieutenant Pinkerton.

Del Mito al Sueño: Rodin…Dali – Exhibition

Famous for representing man in the arts, Rodin and Dali have changed the way we see sculpture today. With Rodin’s influence expressing emotions in his work and Dali’s influence using the unconscious mind as an essential part of life, they both created lasting work that have inspired other sculptors from around the world. Presenting sculptures from six different artists, the Museo de Arte Italiano will take its prestigious and most important exhibit to Lima for the next couple of weeks.

Visualmente… Vinilos – Exhibit

"Visualmente… Vinilos" (Visual… Vinals) showcases vinyl covers from the most important and influential bands of the 60s, 70s and 80s. The exhibit displays the development of the music industry and its aesthetic through three decades of album covers. Alberto Candida serves as curator for this exhinit which illustrates the development of a bands character through its covers and the loss of this art form with the creation of the CD and the LP.

Proyecto Camaleonidas – Exhibition

The Alianza Francesa is proud to present “Proyecto Camaleónidas” (Project Camaleonidas) an exhibition by recognized artist Erick Miraval. The chameleon’s natural ability to camouflage itself against any background works as a metaphor for the human ability to adapt to its environment. Erick Miraval’s paintings serve as a social commentary as to the loss of identity and individuality in our global community.

Estacion de luz… Ultimas especies – Exhibition

José Antonio “Cuco” Morales’ new exhibit “Estación de luz… Últimas especies” (Season of light… Last species) acts as a social commentary on the damage mankind is inflicting on nature. With over a dozen works on display ranging from medium to large formats Cuco Morales displays nature captured in its primary colors. Images of idyllic forests and lonely trails cutting through them are only a part of what this exhibit has to offer.

Señales de Luz - Exhibition

Dutch artist Gam Klutier presents “Señales de Luz” (Signs of Light). In this exhibit the artist incorporates different techniques such as serigraphy, aluminum sculpting and painting. Klutier creates an imaginary world filled with playful characters and animals painted in his signature blue, yellow, black and white. The looseness in the artist’s work creates free and expressive lines which all together allow for a spiritual undertone.

Espejismos: Luis Castellanos – Exhibition

In his seventh solo exhibition, Luis Castellanos has captivated the audiences with his unique style of drawing and animation. Here to present his latest work, Espejismos, Castellanos reinvents his own version of Guernica by famed artist Pablo Picasso. In it, he explores certain architectures brought up in the original artwork but injects a basis of today’s general society. A challenging piece from this contemporary artist, be sure to catch Espejismos on display at ARTCO.

La Impro: Espectáculo de Improvisación Teatral

The British-Peruvian Cultural Association presents Peter Shaffer’s “Amadeus.” Antonio Salieri is the most respected musician in Viena at the end of the XVIIIth century until the arrival of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart changes his life forever. Salieri realizes his own mediocrity and Mozart’s amazing talent, so he decides to destroy the man that he sees as God’s instrument on Earth. War is declared, and Mozart is the battle field.

Hollywoodpedia - Exhibition

Hollywoodpedia, created by Mexican artist Artemio, is an audiovisual compilation of twelve American films which take a look at sets of values and concepts such as love-hate, success-failure, life-death, happiness-sadness, war-peace and good-evil. Artemio uses the scenes, actors' gestures, set, music, etc., to flaunt these films' contradictions.

Michiko Aoki - Exhibition

Sculptor Michiko Aoki will be presenting his latest work, Fondo sin fin, at the Yvonne Sanguineti art and design gallery. Aoki's takes a look into the human perception of infinte states. This is a story about the clashing of different cultures. This play is about the relationship between Afghanistan and the Western World from the past until present times. El niño que cayo dentro de un libro - Children's Theater

“El niño que cayó dentro de un libro” is the Spanish version of Alan Ayckbourn’s ingenious comedy adventure, “The boy who fell into a book”. Detective Rocko has been captured by his enemies and is about to be defeated. That’s where Matías has to close his hero’s book and go to sleep, but it’s also the starting point for his own adventure. Rocko must jump from book to book in order to solve his most difficult case yet, and Matías must find his way home.

Pilar de la Hoz - Concert

Peruvian singer Pilar de la Hoz will play the Auditorio de la Biblioteca Municipal de San Isidro in celebration of her latest album, "Hozadias". The singer, who plays a fusion of Peruvian criolla, jazz and more, will play her new songs, as well as older hits on this night.

Peruvian Tuesdays - Dance

Brisas del Titicaca presents a spectacular show filled with traditional choreographies performed by professional and experienced dancers, accompanied by live music. A variety of typical Peruvian dishes are available, and the public can also join in dancing between performances.

El Libro de la Selva - Theater for Children

Mowgli is a boy who is raised by wolves in the jungle, until one day, he must leave the pack. His friends Bagueera, a black panther, and Baloo, a bear, begin a journey to take him back to the human village, even though he doesn't want to leave. But they must watch out, the fierce tiger Shere Khan is after them. This theatrical performance brings Rudyard Kipling's classic "The Jungle Book" to life for the enjoyment of children and adults alike.

Don Juan Tenorio - Theater

Don Juan Tenorio, the mythical character featured in the most celebrated plays of Spanish writer Jose Zorrilla, reappears in Lima at the Museum Cemetery Presbítero Maestro Matías. The show is directed by Myriam Reátegui and produced by the Cultural Center of Spain.
It is recommended to wear comfortable shoes, as the public has to walk by the cemetery
