Titina - Theater

Titina, by Nicolás Yerovi, is a comedy fusing theater, music, dance, tourism, gastronomy and history, telling the love story of a young couple in Barranco of 1908. The play takes place on the streets of Barranco, where the actors and spectators will visit historical landmarks such as the Plazuela de San Francisco, the Puente de los Suspiros and the railway, all while following Titina’s family and their crazy adventures. The experience ends at the Posada del Angel II restaurant, where the actors and guests have lunch together.

Olga Tañon - Concert

Olga Tañon, nicknamed “La Mujer de Fuego” (The Woman of Fire) returns to Peru on her tour “Evolution Tour 2008” celebrating her 20th year as a performer. She will perform 40 songs from her successful music career that over the last two decades have made her the indisputable queen of salsa and merengue. Her concert will include outstanding scenery and costume changes, as well as vibrant choreographies to accompany her powerful voice and stage presence.

Novalima - Concert

Novalima is a production collective created in 2001 by four Peruvian musicians based in Barcelona, Hong Kong, London and Lima. Its music is heavily-driven by Afro-Peruvian and Latin percussions, blended with downtempo, dub, broken and housebeats. They will play Barranco’s "La Noche" this December 22nd.

Film Night: Las Doce Sillas

Upon learning that his mother-in-law had hidden a fortune in jewels inside one of twelve identical parlor chairs taken from her villa by revolutionary authorities, a young Cuban man sets out on a frantic treasure hunt in this classic comedy from Strawberry and Chocolate director, Tomás Gutiérrez Alea.

40 Lotes - Exhibition


Celebrating its 40th anniversary, The Engraving Specialty of the Art Faculty of the PUCP is presenting this exhibition, where the word "lote" (lot) conceptualizes an space of construction and change. The exhibition shows the advances that this specialty has gone through in the past forty years, from a perspective that includes and integrates other areas of art and sciences.

Eberhard Schlotter: Visiones del Peru – Exhibit

World renowned visual artist Eberhard Schlotter has captured the beauty of our country in many different ways and using many different methods. Now the man who met artists such as Picasso and Miro showcases his work portraying what he has seen after many years of travels to and from Peru. The exhibit is made up of paintings, watercolors, sketches, and engravings.

World Press Photo 2008 – Exhibit

The exhibit containing images from the world’s most important photographic journalism contest can now be seen in Lima. The Royal Embassy of the Netherlands will show close to 100 images from the different category winners. This exhibit has travelled all over the world, toured over forty countries and is viewed on average by more than 2 million people every year.

Visiones del arte contemporaneo en el Peru - Exhibit

Due to the APEC summit taking place in November the Lucía de la Puente Gallery is putting together a special collective exhibit to showcase the richness in Peruvian art. “Visiones del arte contemporáneo en el Perú” (Contemporary view in Peruvian Art) brings together 38 different Peruvian artists of different ages and artistic styles. The works showcased vary from sculptures, drawings, paintings to installations.

Titeres – Children’s Puppet Theater

Titeres Teatro Alterno (Puppets Alternate Theater) presents “Pizarro y la guerra mágica” (Pizarro and the magic war). This show is meant to entertain the entire family and especially children in a state of development. It has a clear message which invites the audience to reflect afterwards on what they have seen. The story is based on Peruvian History and is a celebration of our Peruvian identity.

Mandarina – Children’s Theater

The Theater group “Tuquitos Teatro” presents “Mandarina” a show for children of all ages. Written and acted by producer and actress Claudia Makishi and directed by Jerry Galarreta, director of the “Tuquitos Teatro” theater group and with the collaboration of Alex Ticona, clown psychologist.
“Mandarina” takes place in the magical and imaginary world of a little girl who is sent to bed one night only to discover a Circus story book in her bedroom.

La muerte en Perú antiguo y contemporáneo - Seminar

The Instituto Nacional de Cultura will dedicate their tradicional “Jueves Culturales” (Cultural Thursdays) to the study of life after death in a round of seminars designated “La muerte en Perú antiguo y contemporáneo” (Death in Ancient and Contemporary Peru). Dra. Carlota Casalino, professor at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Perú will speak on November 13th. The seminar will be on “La muerte en Lima en el siglo XIX en el proceso de secularización de la sociedad” (Death in XIXth century Lima during the secularization of society).

Jaime Aranda: Lima Landscapes – Exhibition

What is it to paint a landscape? That’s the question artist Jaime Aranda asked while he was finishing his collection Lima Landscapes. But the question dives deeper into the meaning of what constitutes a real depiction of landscapes and scenery. In this exhibit, Aranda focuses on the true essence of Lima’s notable sceneries.

Viajes Noviembre y APEC 2008- Travel

“Dimensiones Peru” is a travel agency specialized in both conventional and unconventional tourism. In the month of November they are offering different travel packets to discover new, beautiful and interesting parts of Peru. On November 16th there will be a trip to the Fortress of Huacapune. Fernando La Rosa. Fotografias (1968 – 2007) – Exhibit

Fernando La Rosa is one Peru’s most influential graphic artists to date. La Rosa plays with our perception of things and creates a sense of rediscovery when observing his photographs. The exhibit showcases images of all different sizes, formats and of various techniques. The Germán Krüger Espantoso gallery invites us to look back at almost 40 years of a brilliant career and stunning photography. Come and explore space as only La Rosa can display it.

Libros & Cosas - Exhibit

The Centro Cultural Inca Garcilaso de la Cancilleria has organized an homage to the poets of the 60s generation, Reynaldo Naranjo, Marco Martos, Hildebrando Pérez and Arturo Corcuera. The exhibit "Libros & Cosas” (Books and Things) will be up until November 22nd. It will showcase books, manuscrits, photographs and other personal objects belonging to all four poets.

Mundo Viñeta, Festival de Comic – Exhibit

The Alianza Francesa and the Biblioteca Nacional del Peru are just two of the organizations responsible for having put together the “Mundo Viñeta” Comic Book Festival. There are over 7000 different pieces showcased in the various exhibits held through out the festival. Each exhibit brings together the work of graphic novel pioneers and allows for an appreciation of the development of the comic from its beginnings.

Del Mito al Sueño: Rodin…Dali – Exhibition

Famous for representing man in the arts, Rodin and Dali have changed the way we see sculpture today. Visualmente… Vinilos – Exhibit

"Visualmente… Vinilos" (Visual… Vinals) showcases vinyl covers from the most important and influential bands of the 60s, 70s and 80s. The exhibit displays the development of the music industry and its aesthetic through three decades of album covers. Alberto Candida serves as curator for this exhinit which illustrates the development of a bands character through its covers and the loss of this art form with the creation of the CD and the LP.

Amadeus - Theater

The British-Peruvian Cultural Association presents Peter Shaffer’s “Amadeus.” Antonio Salieri is the most respected musician in Viena at the end of the XVIIIth century until the arrival of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart changes his life forever. Salieri realizes his own mediocrity and Mozart’s amazing talent, so he decides to destroy the man that he sees as God’s instrument on Earth. War is declared, and Mozart is the battle field.

The Brave Tin Soldier, one of Andersen’s classics, is a tale of toy soldiers who have the special power of becoming alive at night. El niño que cayo dentro de un libro - Children's Theater

“El niño que cayó dentro de un libro” is the Spanish version of Alan Ayckbourn’s ingenious comedy adventure, “The boy who fell into a book”. Detective Rocko has been captured by his enemies and is about to be defeated. That’s where Matías has to close his hero’s book and go to sleep, but it’s also the starting point for his own adventure. Rocko must jump from book to book in order to solve his most difficult case yet, and Matías must find his way home.

Don Juan Tenorio, the mythical character featured in the most celebrated plays of Spanish writer Jose Zorrilla, reappears in Lima at the Museum Cemetery Presbítero Maestro Matías. The show is directed by Myriam Reátegui and produced by the Cultural Center of Spain.
