The Satanico Pop Tour is here and Los Fabulosos Cadillacs are here in Lima to perform one of the city's highly anticipated shows. Famous for their ska/pop/punk sounds, this Argentinian band is making sure all their loyal fans in get the chance to see this popular band perform this month for their one night only show!
Novalima is a production collective created in 2001 by four Peruvian musicians based in Barcelona, Hong Kong, London and Lima. Its music is heavily-driven by Afro-Peruvian and Latin percussions, blended with downtempo, dub, broken and housebeats. They will play Barranco’s "La Noche" this December 22nd.

The Wiese House has graciously been lent to the Lima Art Museum (MALI) in order to showcase its latest exhibit “MALI Contemporáneo. Adquisiciones y donaciones 2008” (Contemporary MALI. Acquisitions and Donations 2008). This exhibit brings together all the works incorporated to the museum’s collection during 2008.

As an homage to Andean music singers, songwriters and performers who were pioneers in bringing this musical genre to Lima the San Marcos Museum of Art has organized the “Fragmentos de una historia. La musica Andina en Lima” (Fragments of History. Andean Music in Lima) exhibit. It is made up of 54 portraits of significant individuals in Andean music and their stories.

Romanticanto is a concert performed by Jeremy and Leonel. Jeremy is a Peruvian singer song writer who developed a musical ability at a young age and went on to win “Camino a la Fama” (The Road to Fame). This was the first Peruvian nationwide televised signing competition. Leonel was born in Buenos Aires and his talent and love for music led him to start the band “Zona Urbana”. After a trip to Peru he decided to enter a signing competition where he gained the love and support of his Peruvian audience. Both artists will perform at the L’Anfiteatro on December 5th.

The John Harriman Gallery from the Centro Cultural Britanico will end 2008 with a retrospective exhibit of the work of Carlos Quizpez Asin. The works showcased include murals, sketches, oil paintings, engravings and other projects by Quizpez Asin. He was born in Lima in 1900 and then went on to study in Madrid at the San Fernando Academy where he met and befriended Salvador Dali.

After three years of silence Natalia Iguiñiz returns to Peruvian art galleries with her latest exhibit “Pequeñas Historias de Maternidad 2” (Little Stories on Pregnancy 2). In this exhibit Iguiñiz reflects on a mother’s body, pregnancy and the raising of children. Little Stories on Pregnancy 2 is a follow up to Iguiñiz’ 2005 exhibit which dealt with the bond between mother and child and the relationship between a woman and motherhood.

In honor of the “year of the potato,” the Municipality of Lima has organized the exhibition “Pincal Ancestral” (Ancestral Brush), a collective exhibition of 40 painters and sculptors from various regions of Peru. These works of art pay tribute to the potato and highlight the importance and value that this Peruvian product has for the world.
Luz Maria Bedoya is a Peruvian visual artist with an impressive career which has taken her around the world and seen her work displayed through out Europe and South America. Bedoya is the voice of emptiness, of the incomplete and of anonymity. The exhibit “Lineas de Nazca” (Nazca Lines) sets the scene to put into question present day norms and conventions upon which we build meaning.

“Datos Insuficientes” (Insufficient Data) is Nancy La Rosa’s first individual exhibit as an artist. La Rosa’s work explores the concept of landscapes through photography, video recordings and sketches. Official documents, the border, emptiness and the difficulty in conveying these elements are the main themes of the exhibit. La Rosa makes everything come together to concentrate on the uncertainty which makes up the areas designated as insufficient data.

Sandro Leon returns to the stage with “Perbras”. Playing music which stems from Peruvian and Brazilian rhythms fused together with Jazz, Leon will perform songs written by Chabuca Granda, Manuel Acosta Ojeda, Felipe Pinglo, Caetano Velosso, Milton Nacimento and Tom Jobim. He is accompanied on stage by a group of experienced and renowned musicians. This is Leon’s last performance in Peru before returning to Brazil so be sure not to miss your chance to hear this modern fusion.

Santa Clause tells us a story that happened on the streets of Lima. Little Maria wanted to decorate her street for Christmas Eve and gets help from Fermin, a hard-working boy who will help her clean, decorate and arrange the manger scene. However, a mischievous character will appear to ruin everything. Raul Narrea Molina is the creator and director of this puppet show.

Improv group “El Hipopótamo Azul” presents “Harold III – El Rey de la Improvisación Larga” (The King of Long Improvisation), where a group of actors climb on stage armed with nothing more than their training and imagination. They will ask for suggestions from the audience and will begin to act out a story that they make up as they go and can lead them anywhere.
World renowned visual artist Eberhard Schlotter has captured the beauty of our country in many different ways and using many different methods. Now the man who met artists such as Picasso and Miro showcases his work portraying what he has seen after many years of travels to and from Peru. The exhibit is made up of paintings, watercolors, sketches, and engravings.

The exhibit containing images from the world’s most important photographic journalism contest can now be seen in Lima. The Royal Embassy of the Netherlands will show close to 100 images from the different category winners. This exhibit has travelled all over the world, toured over forty countries and is viewed on average by more than 2 million people every year.

The 29th annual Ricardo Palma Book Fair is set to begin on November 29th. This year the Book Fair will have a wider selection of international works. The fair's motif will have to do with the launch of a public campaign designed to promote the legitimate purchase of literature. But the question dives deeper into the meaning of what constitutes a real depiction of landscapes and scenery. In this exhibit, Aranda focuses on the true essence of Lima’s notable sceneries.

In his third exhibition, Toto Fernández Ampuero addresses the current problems of the uses and abuses of the own image and how we see ourselves. In this exhibition titled Ego Trip, Ampuero dives into the shocking reality of living in a culture where ego is everything.
Head on over to the L’Anfiteatro where you can rock out to Los Filipz, a young local band playing their signature sound of reggae, funk and ska. This fun group is sure enough to get you on your feet and start moving to the music.
Fernando La Rosa is one Peru’s most influential graphic artists to date. La Rosa plays with our perception of things and creates a sense of rediscovery when observing his photographs. The exhibit showcases images of all different sizes, formats and of various techniques. The Germán Krüger Espantoso gallery invites us to look back at almost 40 years of a brilliant career and stunning photography. Come and explore space as only La Rosa can display it.

“Platería Peruana Contemporánea” (Contemporary Peruvian Works in Silver) is an exhibit which showcases Peruvian silver works such as art pieces or jewelry and the Peruvian silver industry. The Silver market and marketing tools are the focus of the exhibit. There will be a seminar hosted by Jose Torres Della Pina targeted at those in the business.

"Visualmente… Vinilos" (Visual… Vinals) showcases vinyl covers from the most important and influential bands of the 60s, 70s and 80s. The exhibit displays the development of the music industry and its aesthetic through three decades of album covers. Alberto Candida serves as curator for this exhinit which illustrates the development of a bands character through its covers and the loss of this art form with the creation of the CD and the LP.

The British-Peruvian Cultural Association presents Peter Shaffer’s “Amadeus.” Antonio Salieri is the most respected musician in Viena at the end of the XVIIIth century until the arrival of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart changes his life forever. Salieri realizes his own mediocrity and Mozart’s amazing talent, so he decides to destroy the man that he sees as God’s instrument on Earth. War is declared, and Mozart is the battle field.
This is a story about the clashing of different cultures. This play is about the relationship between Afghanistan and the Western World from the past until present times. Yuyachkani, one of the most recognized theater groups in Latin America, presents “Santiago,” about the festivity in honor of the apostle Santiago (James). The characters of an almost ghostly town in the Andes of Peru, in an act of despair and hope, decide to revive this ceremony after it had been abandoned 15 years earlier.

“El niño que cayó dentro de un libro” is the Spanish version of Alan Ayckbourn’s ingenious comedy adventure, “The boy who fell into a book”. The Satchmo presents Flashback and their show "Vueven los buenos tiempos" (The Good Times are Back), where they will perform hits of the 60's, 70's and 80's.
