Leonardo Da Vinci: El Genio y Secretos

Leonardo Da Vinci was one of the greatest figures in human history. How to come up with an exhibition that could show all of what he was? Grande Exhibitions and Anthropos Association of Italy created this project: a historical route through his many artistic, scientific and research work on fields like anatomy, music, mechanics, and such. This mega- project has managed to re-create some of Da Vincis inventions and experiments, it counts with interactive tours, 3D pictures, and other amazing things! The exhibition has already been displayed in Moscow, San Francisco, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Melbourne, Hong Kong, Buenos Aires, Guayaquil and Santiago de Chile. Now it's Lima's turn, what are you waiting to become part of this experience!

Los Fabulosos Cadillacs - Concert

The Satanico Pop Tour is here and Los Fabulosos Cadillacs are here in Lima to perform one of the city's highly anticipated shows. Olga Tañon - Concert

Olga Tañon, nicknamed “La Mujer de Fuego” (The Woman of Fire) returns to Peru on her tour “Evolution Tour 2008” celebrating her 20th year as a performer. She will perform 40 songs from her successful music career that over the last two decades have made her the indisputable queen of salsa and merengue. Her concert will include outstanding scenery and costume changes, as well as vibrant choreographies to accompany her powerful voice and stage presence.

Danza Nueva: XXI International Lima Festival

Since 1989, ICPNA has organized what's considered as the most important dance festival in Lima. This year, the festival will count with the participation of recognized national and international artists and companies like the Tai Soon Burgues & Co (USA), Pachi Valle Riestra y Cuatro Costillas Flotantes (Peru), Ou-Topos (Costa Rica), Punto ciego (El Salvador) and The Londrina Ballet (Brazil). It's definitely something worth watching!

El Cuerpo Humano, Real y Fascinante - Exhibition




This exhibition displays real bodies, complete and partial, that have been preserved by using an innovating technique called polymerization, which preserves human tissue with liquid silicon. The final result is a plasticized body at molecular level, showing the complexity of the many bones, nerves, blood vessels and organs of the human body. It's a great opportunity to observe and learn about how the human body works.

Security and Protection Against Kidnappers - Seminar

In a city like Lima, people may often face the risk of coming face to face with kidnappers or thieves. As a measure of prevention and an attempt to increase general awareness, the American Chamber of Commerce is offering a seminar where they will explain how kidnappers work, how to avoid being kidnapped and how to react in case you, or someone you know, have been kidnapped. Special guest speaker will be Maj. Ángel Toledo Palomino, of the National Police, who has over 13 years of experience and is highly qualified on the subject.

Heraud, El Corazón Volador - Theater

Heraud, El Corazón Volador (Heraud, The Flying Heart) is a play based on the life and works of Peruvian poet, Javier Heraud. Route Nº 6 - Theater

“Tired of mediocrity, frustration and unhappiness?” April is, and this is why she decides to travel to the Island of Success. Her luggage? Her fears as a young woman, her yearning for security and Julio, her lifelong boyfriend. What neither of them suspects though, is that, beyond their plans and dreams is a route that will put their relationship to the test – Route Nº 6.

This play has been created by students from Universidad Católica, and will only have six performances.

Jalca: Agua y Vida - Photography Exhibition

Photography Exhibition by Chiclayan photographer, Heinz Plenge, which portrays modern mining as an opportunity for development.  The exhibition, arranged by museum professional, Luis Repetto, is both artistic and interactive, and reflects on how mining activities in Yanacocha, Cajamarca, have been carried out with environmental responsibility and have thus been able to preserve and protect the biodiversity of the area.

Texturas - Art Exhibition

How do different textures play a role in our traditions and everyday reality? How can someone express feelings, ideas, an entire language just by combining a diversity of textures? Artists Javier Hernán Pedrozo, Luis Miguel Tokuda Fujita and Ricardo Henry Terrones Mayta have the answer. They believe that different textures can blend in such a way that they arrive at an unusual harmony between time and space, a creation of schemes and spaces that can be achieved in no other way. The three of them will be exhibiting a sample of their work which will certainly be worth seeing!

Jews in Poland - Exhibition

The Embassy of Poland is presenting a graphic exhibition on the history, traditions and culture of Jewish people in Poland in the last one thousand years. The exhibition has been prepared by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute of Warsaw in collaboration with the Polish Ministry of International Relations, and presents a panorama of Jewish people that goes beyond the classical scenes of Nazi persecution, portraying a unique culture that is definitely worth learning about.

Ciclo de Teatro y Memoria en Maguey - Theater

This year, the theater group Maguey will be offering a season of contemporary plays “Micaela” and “Crónicas Innominadas” (Nameless Cronicles). “Micaela” explores the role of women in society through the life and dreams of Micaela Bastidas. “Crónicas Innominadas”, on the other hand, is about a humorous half-real, half-magic encounter between nameless chroniclers, popular and anonymous characters, and delirious gold-diggers of the 16th century, all of it through the eyes of two garbage recyclers desperate for iron and junk.  Both plays have been written exclusively for Maguey productions, and have already been performed throughout Europe and Latin America.

Kené, Arte, Ciencia y Tradición en Diseño

"Kené" is a cultural manifestation that gathers the vision, the knowledge and art of the Shipibo-Konibo society. On their language it means design, and it's used to designate the handmade geometric patterns. Their different drawing methods are reflected on the pieces that conform this exhibition, and are part of the ethnographic collection of the National Museum of Peruvian Culture.

La Soledad del Artista - Art Exhibition

A deserved tribute to the memory of Victor Humareda (1920-1986), the National Institute of Culture has prepared a recollection of the artist’s paintings as an exhibition that will be displayed in the Museo de la Nación. Q.E.P.D - Theater

Q.E.P.D is based on the play by Ecuadorian dramatist, Jose Martinez Queirolo. It tells the story of a married couple of the highest social status that dies in a car accident. Now, the dead couple will be forced to open up their hearts and exorcise all the demons within them. A double moral, infidelity, superficiality, all of these issues will make them realize that they were already dead before the accident, because they led an empty and shallow life. Filled with sarcasm and black humor, the play intends to make us laugh and reflect on our own lifes.

Mi Querida Neurosis (My Dear Neurosis) is a fun way of looking with humor and without prejudice the little neurosis we all have. A clown that sleeps all day decides to wake up for an hour to live all of her neurosis together! They include: hygiene, sex, food, love, money, safeness, loneliness, and others. Plain and with no words, the show expects to awaken the sense of liberation towards the little obsessions and neurosis of the audience.

Magicamente Amigos - Children's Puppet Show

Don Simeón and Doña Berenice met by chance and turned out to be neighbors. They soon began to be hostile to one another, because they tried to impose their own customs. On their attempt to damage the other, they awoke a monster that was happily sleeping. Angry at them for having awoken him, the monster tried to make them disappear. However, after being chased down and scared to death, the neighbors found a spell to make the monster disappear. After that, Don Simeón proposed marriage to Doña Berenice, who happily accepted under the condition that he would never change! Now, the two of them travel around the world spreading joy and happiness.

Maguey Theater Group has made this play a unique one by combining excellent acting skills with objects and materials, live music, an incredible stage, and other magical surprises. "Cronicas Innominadas" is definitely a contemporary play that takes us through a reveling and intricate crusade, filled with poetry and magic.

¿Dónde está el Idiota? - Theater

¿Dónde está el Idiota? (Where's the idiot?) was written by Francis Veber and has reached a success without precedent. The play tells the story of Gastón, a guy that likes to organize dinners where each guest must be accompanied by an idiot. Gaston is happy to find Piñon, who he considers to be the world champion of idiots. However, he will soon realize that nights with Piñon are always unpredictable and that inviting him to dinner was one of the biggest mistakes of his life. Raquel en Llamas productions brings the play to Peru, under the direction of Rocio Tovar and the participation of an amazing cast integrated by Carlos Carlín, Paul Vega, Vanessa Saba, Carlos Ticcio and Cesar Ritter.

Esencia Gitana -Dance

Esencia Gitana (Gypsy essence) will perform the best of flamenco; where the music and dances join in a magical mystery. The show will count with the first national dancer Cathy del Sol and her company, Sangre Flamenca.

40 Lotes - Exhibition


Celebrating its 40th anniversary, The Engraving Specialty of the Art Faculty of the PUCP is presenting this exhibition, where the word "lote" (lot) conceptualizes an space of construction and change. The exhibition shows the advances that this specialty has gone through in the past forty years, from a perspective that includes and integrates other areas of art and sciences.

Improthlon - Improv Competition

Ketó presents "Improthlon," an improv event presented as a sports competition. There are three different categories: Improv Match, Improv Sport and Stand Up Comedy. Four teams will be participating for the winning title.

Amores de un siglo - Theater

“Amores de un siglo” brings three universal plays together in one exceptional theater production: Henrik Ibsen’s “A Doll’s House,” August Strindberg’s “Miss Julie” and a theater adaptation of Ingmar Bergman’s screenplay “Scenes From a Marriage.” Seen together, these three plays bring us to an inevitable debate about the problems between couples, and essentially, the troubles of love.

La Asombrosa Fabula del Rey Ciervo



This is a fun, magical story written by the Italian Carlo Gozzi, who was inspired by classic characters of the comedy art. It's about king Deramo, who was turned into a deer by the first minister, Tartaglia so that he could keep the throne. Directed by Giovanni Ciccia and an amazing cast this play promises to be one of the favorites of 2009.

Barroco Frio - Exhibition

Peruvian Artist, Pablo Patrucco is presenting his latest work entitled "Barroco Frio". The exhibition gathers around ten pieces of work, including oleo and serigraphs on fabric that center the attention on images that represent the everyday life; where different icons such as ancient prehispanic Moche ceramics and figures of present day saints represent the idiosyncrasy in two different times, showing the cultural diversity of the country.

Postales de Lima- Exhibition


Lima's Art Museum (MALI) is presenting "Postales de Lima" (Postcards of Lima), an exhibition that gathers a selection of around 70 pieces of work from the first half of the XX century. The selection revises the meaning of those images, and incorporates different phenomena that define the multicultural identity of the city of Lima.

El Cubismo y sus Entornos- Exhibition


This exhibition gathers the work of several national and international artists, that follow the cubist current, considered as central movement in the history of modern art. The collection revolves around Juan Gris's work, considered as the most representative artist of cubism since 1914, and includes pieces that show the relation of cubist languages and the ones from futurism, modern classicism, geometric abstraction and new figuration. The exhibition is organized in guided visits that will take you along through some of the most important and representative aspects of cubism.

El Gesto en el Vacío - Exhibition

This exhibition gathers the work of Cristina Galvez (1960- 1982). Galvez was an expert in the art of drawing and is considered to be the founder of modern sculpture in Peru. Now, 26 years after her death, her amazing legacy has been gathered in this exhibition with the purpose of honoring her long forgotten work.

Max y los Maximostruos


This adaptation of the book by Maurice Sendan "Where the wild Things Are" is directed by Javier Valdés, and counts with an excellent cast. It is the story of Max, a naughty 4 year old, who gets punished in his bedroom with no dinner by his mother. Out of boredom, Max uses his imagination to transform his room into a fantasy world. He will cross the ocean on a small boat until he reaches a strange forest, where monsters live. It's a place where he'll live a number of adventures.

The Centro Cultural Peruano Britanico is presenting winning play of the 2nd Contest of Peruvian Dramatists 2008. "Respira", by Eduardo Adrianzén, under the direction of Roberto Angeles, and the performances of an excellent cast. The play tells the story of Mario, a man that has reached a critical point in his life and has to face the ghosts of his past.

La Santa Comedia- Theater



La santa Comedia (The Holy Comedy), under the direction of July Naters and the performances of Saskia Bernaola, Katia Palma and Patrica Portocarrero. This play is staged on Mass, where sisters Bete, Rento and Rita take you through the most characteristic parts of this religious ritual in the most amusing way. As clowns, they manage to entertain and captivate the attention of the audience, showing them the imperfect nature of human beings.

El Soldadito de Plomo - Children's Theater

Does the name Hans Christian Andersen sound familiar to you? Well it should because he is one of the most famous fairy tale writers to have ever existed and, for a limited of time, Teatro Larco will be presenting one of his works live on stage. The Brave Tin Soldier, one of Andersen’s classics, is a tale of toy soldiers who have the special power of becoming alive at night. Watch the excitement and drama unfold as one particular soldier tries to woo the girl of his dreams.

Santiago - Theater

Yuyachkani, one of the most recognized theater groups in Latin America, presents “Santiago,” about the festivity in honor of the apostle Santiago (James). The characters of an almost ghostly town in the Andes of Peru, in an act of despair and hope, decide to revive this ceremony after it had been abandoned 15 years earlier.

The Wizard of Oz - Children's Theater

The magical story of Dorothy, her dog Toto, and their inseparable friends the scarecrow, the tin man and the lion is shown at Miraflores' Teatro Julieta. Dorothy  wants to discover what is on the other side of the rainbow, when all of a sudden, a great tornado hits her city and she and her dog are transported into the magical world of Oz.
