El Montaplatos (The Dumbwaiter), written by Harold Pinter in 1957, is a play in which two hired murderers await their next victim in the basement of an abandoned building. Both criminals have their minds set on the task when, unexpectedly, they begin to receive strange orders from someone they cannot see. Inclined to satisfy the demands of the authority, they blindly obey… A masterpiece of suspense, Pinter proposes a different perspective of daily life – a reflection about the social system in which people live, where so often they follow orders without even questioning them.

This year, the theater group Maguey will be offering a season of contemporary plays “Micaela” and “Crónicas Innominadas” (Nameless Cronicles). “Micaela” explores the role of women in society through the life and dreams of Micaela Bastidas. “Crónicas Innominadas”, on the other hand, is about a humorous half-real, half-magic encounter between nameless chroniclers, popular and anonymous characters, and delirious gold-diggers of the 16th century, all of it through the eyes of two garbage recyclers desperate for iron and junk. Both plays have been written exclusively for Maguey productions, and have already been performed throughout Europe and Latin America.
When: June 6th to July 26th, “Crónicas Innominadas”: Saturdays, 8pm, “Micaela”: Sunday, 6pm

¿Dónde está el Idiota? (Where's the idiot?) was written by Francis Veber and has reached a success without precedent. The play tells the story of Gastón, a guy that likes to organize dinners where each guest must be accompanied by an idiot. Gaston is happy to find Piñon, who he considers to be the world champion of idiots. However, he will soon realize that nights with Piñon are always unpredictable and that inviting him to dinner was one of the biggest mistakes of his life. Raquel en Llamas productions brings the play to Peru, under the direction of Rocio Tovar and the participation of an amazing cast integrated by Carlos Carlín, Paul Vega, Vanessa Saba, Carlos Ticcio and Cesar Ritter.

“Amores de un siglo” brings three universal plays together in one exceptional theater production: Henrik Ibsen’s “A Doll’s House,” August Strindberg’s “Miss Julie” and a theater adaptation of Ingmar Bergman’s screenplay “Scenes From a Marriage.” Seen together, these three plays bring us to an inevitable debate about the problems between couples, and essentially, the troubles of love.
