The Satanico Pop Tour is here and Los Fabulosos Cadillacs are here in Lima to perform one of the city's highly anticipated shows. Famous for their ska/pop/punk sounds, this Argentinian band is making sure all their loyal fans in get the chance to see this popular band perform this month for their one night only show!

A reflection of two years’ work, Universo Vibrante (Vibrant Universe), portrays, once again, Estrella Levy Gazit’s passion for capturing light on her photographs. To contrast her last exhibition, Claroscuro (Chiaroscuro), the photographer has combined light and color in order to bring alive shapes of the real world and memories of her own. Gazit was born in Peru, but coursed her studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and has devoted herself to photography ever since she was fifteen.

Mariano Zuzunaga is one of the most recognized Peruvian photographers in the world. This time he brings us "La velocidad del tiempo" (the speed of time), in which he has managed to capture instants where the speed created, in a specific moment, bubbles in the ocean, shadows in the wall or emptiness in a movie theater. The photographs show "the speed of time, of every time, of our time", says Zuzunaga.
Vertice Art Gallery is presenting the latest work of artist Walter Carbonel. "Las Antípodas de Camboya" gathers a number of paintings, drawings and videos, in which the artist has intended to highlight the irony of the globalization of art, and to question its importance in the global artistic world.
Interested in creative furniture design? Carlos Cornejo, designer and sculptor, presents an exhibition which shows a very imaginative approach to furniture design, managing to transform daily life situations into celebrated and original. Cornejo studied architecture and sculpture at the Visual Arts School at Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería and has 25 years of experience in furniture design.

Número 2 is an exhibition about the second part of the comic story Superchaco, by Fernando Gutiérrez / Huanchaco. Here, Gutiérrez tells the tale of Superchaco and one of the most respected heroes of Peruvian history, Miguel Grau, together on the quest for the Huáscar vessel (Grau’s warship during the Naval Combat of Angamos). The story is told in a series of photographs, paintings, videos and drawings, and the characters are interpreted by Fernando Gutiérrez (Superchaco) and Germán Seminario (Grau) who is actually Miguel Grau’s great-grandson.

Quilombolas, Tradición y Cultura de Resistencia (Quilombolas, Tradition and a Culture of Resistence) is an exhibition of twenty-seven black and white photographs of the black communities of Brazil. These communities are found in the Brazilian quilombos (Sao Paulo, Pará, Goiás, Bahía, Río de Janeiro, and other cities). The photographs were taken by André Cypriano, and they have already been exhibited in Buenos Aires (Argentina), La Paz (Bolivia), Montevideo (Uruguay), Asunción (Paraguay) and in fifteen Brazilian cities.

Ayakaypa Muyuskan is an exhibition of the works of Mexican artist, Artemio. Artemio studied art in Mexico City and New York, and has presented his work individually in the Hollywood Gallery of London, the ESL Gallery of Los Angeles and the Museum of Contemporary Art Carrillo Gil, and collectively in countries like Korea, Spain and USA.

ARTCO Gallery will be hosting an exhibition with the works of Rocío Rendón. The artist has chosen to explore the duality of human conduct, using lenticular technology in order to magnify and give movement to her images. Rendón studied at ENSABAP (1998) and is the winner of the MOLAA Prize 08 in USA. “Malestar en la Cultura” (Discomfort in our Culture) is her second individual exhibition.

ICPNA and Universidad Ricardo Palma present the sixth annual exhibition of Traditional Peruvian Silverworks – a selection of over four hundred pieces from a diversity of both private and public collections. Gisella Altuna has the kind of voice that makes everyone fall in love with it the moment she starts to sing. A lover of the variety in music, Gisella includes jazz, bossa, latin, disco and Peruvian music in her repertoire. She studied singing at the National Conservatory of Music, and can sing and act in three different languages. Now, she will be giving weekly presentations every Friday and Saturday.

El Montaplatos (The Dumbwaiter), written by Harold Pinter in 1957, is a play in which two hired murderers await their next victim in the basement of an abandoned building. Both criminals have their minds set on the task when, unexpectedly, they begin to receive strange orders from someone they cannot see. Inclined to satisfy the demands of the authority, they blindly obey… A masterpiece of suspense, Pinter proposes a different perspective of daily life – a reflection about the social system in which people live, where so often they follow orders without even questioning them.

Irrevocable, a multimedia theater and dance performance, was inspired by Virginia Woolf’s literary masterpiece, Mrs. Dalloway. Irrevocable’s protagonist, interpreted by the talented María Angélica Vega, is the same Virginia Woolf representing the character she created – Clarissa Dalloway. The play also includes dancers, which act as people and ghosts from the lives of both Virginia Woolf and Clarissa Dalloway.

Esta Obra es un Desastre (Noises Off!) is a comedy written by Michael Frayn and directed by Ricardo Moran that shows a hilarious story about a group of people involved in theater, trying to put together and perform a play in spite of their incompetence, their chaotic director and the love tangles between certain characters. The play will have actors like Renzo Schuller, Emilia Drago and Javier Echevarría performing. Pre-sales will only be until July 10th!

The Embassy of Poland is presenting a graphic exhibition on the history, traditions and culture of Jewish people in Poland in the last one thousand years. The exhibition has been prepared by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute of Warsaw in collaboration with the Polish Ministry of International Relations, and presents a panorama of Jewish people that goes beyond the classical scenes of Nazi persecution, portraying a unique culture that is definitely worth learning about.

This year, the theater group Maguey will be offering a season of contemporary plays “Micaela” and “Crónicas Innominadas” (Nameless Cronicles). “Micaela” explores the role of women in society through the life and dreams of Micaela Bastidas. “Crónicas Innominadas”, on the other hand, is about a humorous half-real, half-magic encounter between nameless chroniclers, popular and anonymous characters, and delirious gold-diggers of the 16th century, all of it through the eyes of two garbage recyclers desperate for iron and junk. Both plays have been written exclusively for Maguey productions, and have already been performed throughout Europe and Latin America.

To commemorate 400 years since the publishing of ‘Comentarios Reales de los Incas’ (Royal Commentaries of the Incas), the Cultural Center Inca Gracilaso has organized an exhibition and a series of conferences on the life and works of Inca Garcilaso de la Vega and how he has influenced humanity in the past centuries. After remaining a few months in Lima, the display will be taken to other cities in Latin America and Spain.

Afroperuanos (Afro-Peruvians) is photographer Martín Alvarado’s second exhibiton. Here, his pictures capture the essence of Afro-Peruvian culture in our country: their traditions, daily life, art, leaders… Martín Alvarado is also producer of the cultural TV show, “Costumbres” (‘Customs’) and has also exhibited his photographs four years ago in ‘Este Es Mi Cariño’ (‘This is my Affection’).

A deserved tribute to the memory of Victor Humareda (1920-1986), the National Institute of Culture has prepared a recollection of the artist’s paintings as an exhibition that will be displayed in the Museo de la Nación. Victor Humareda’s works of art reflect his passion for painting harlequins, ballerinas, bullfighters and landscapes from a very traditional Lima. Not only will you admire Humareda’s unique talent, precision and perfection, but also contemplate the works of one of the greatest painters in Peruvian history.

Don Simeón and Doña Berenice met by chance and turned out to be neighbors. They soon began to be hostile to one another, because they tried to impose their own customs. On their attempt to damage the other, they awoke a monster that was happily sleeping. Angry at them for having awoken him, the monster tried to make them disappear. However, after being chased down and scared to death, the neighbors found a spell to make the monster disappear. After that, Don Simeón proposed marriage to Doña Berenice, who happily accepted under the condition that he would never change! Now, the two of them travel around the world spreading joy and happiness.
Written in 1926 by the German author Ferdinand Bruckner, it tells the story of the desire, repression and turbulence of a group of young medicine students gathered in a pension, who are in a constant destructive game with their sexuality, the excess and mutual dependence in their search for giving sense to their lifes.

Kimbafá, a show which mixes rhythm, percussion and Afro-Peruvian dance, transforms these elements into language, with many underlying themes that exemplify the flamboyant elements of everyday life in Lima. Every instrument in the show comes together in perfect harmony. Lima is a city that is crying out and wants desperately to be heard. Kimbafá and its different sound portrays Lima in different stages: Lima at dawn, Popular Lima, a Joyful Lima. Yuyachkani, one of the most recognized theater groups in Latin America, presents “Santiago,” about the festivity in honor of the apostle Santiago (James). The characters of an almost ghostly town in the Andes of Peru, in an act of despair and hope, decide to revive this ceremony after it had been abandoned 15 years earlier.
