Leonardo Da Vinci: El Genio y Secretos

Leonardo Da Vinci was one of the greatest figures in human history. How to come up with an exhibition that could show all of what he was? Grande Exhibitions and Anthropos Association of Italy created this project: a historical route through his many artistic, scientific and research work on fields like anatomy, music, mechanics, and such. This mega- project has managed to re-create some of Da Vincis inventions and experiments, it counts with interactive tours, 3D pictures, and other amazing things! The exhibition has already been displayed in Moscow, San Francisco, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Melbourne, Hong Kong, Buenos Aires, Guayaquil and Santiago de Chile. Now it's Lima's turn, what are you waiting to become part of this experience!

Olga Tañon - Concert

Olga Tañon, nicknamed “La Mujer de Fuego” (The Woman of Fire) returns to Peru on her tour “Evolution Tour 2008” celebrating her 20th year as a performer. She will perform 40 songs from her successful music career that over the last two decades have made her the indisputable queen of salsa and merengue. Her concert will include outstanding scenery and costume changes, as well as vibrant choreographies to accompany her powerful voice and stage presence.

El Cuerpo Humano, Real y Fascinante - Exhibition




This exhibition displays real bodies, complete and partial, that have been preserved by using an innovating technique called polymerization, which preserves human tissue with liquid silicon. The final result is a plasticized body at molecular level, showing the complexity of the many bones, nerves, blood vessels and organs of the human body. It's a great opportunity to observe and learn about how the human body works.

Feria Internacional del Libro - International Book Fair

The Feria Internacional del Libro, FIL, (Internacional Book Fair) is a major cultural event in all Latin-American cities which gathers a wide range of national and international editorials and authors that offer the public unique access to the world of books and literature. Clavito el Puercoespin- Children's Theater




The play tells the story of Clavito, a porcupine, who reaches a hill in a search for friends, not knowing that his quills will annoy his neighbors: Ms. Hen, The Jumping Bunny, The Fatty Goat and the Naughty Cuy. Clavito was told to "go away, as far as possible", which breaks his heart. However, his neighbors soon realize they misjudged him, and that behind those quills lies a golden heart full of love.

Hatun Maranga: Sociedad Prehispanica Planificada en Lima - Exhibition

Don Quijote - Ballet Performance

The Instituto Nacional de Cultura and the National Ballet are proud to present a version of Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra's classic tale, "Don Quijote". The story features protagonist, Alonso Quixano, who names himself "Don Quijote" after reading one too many tales of chivalry. He dives into a fantasy world, where he as convinced himself that he is a knight. Together with his friend and squire Sancho Panza, they set out on an adventure to find Don Quijote's love, the "Dulcinea", a fair maiden in his eyes, but a farmgirl in real life.

Hechicero (La Tarumba) - Circus Performance



La Tarumba, a prestigious circus group with 25 years of experience, presents "Hechicero" (sorcerer), a love story between Baltazar, a young man from Chincha, in coast of Peru, and Lucero, a girl from the community of Chopcca Paucara, in the highland part of the country. The spectacle intends to show the diversity of cultures we have and to help built a national identity based on tolerance and the acknowledgment of our diverse history. Universo Vibrante - Photography Exhibition

A reflection of two years’ work, Universo Vibrante (Vibrant Universe), portrays, once again, Estrella Levy Gazit’s passion for capturing light on her photographs. To contrast her last exhibition, Claroscuro (Chiaroscuro), the photographer has combined light and color in order to bring alive shapes of the real world and memories of her own. Gazit was born in Peru, but coursed her studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and has devoted herself to photography ever since she was fifteen.

La Velocidad del Tiempo - Photography exhibition

Mariano Zuzunaga is one of the most recognized Peruvian photographers in the world. This time he brings us "La velocidad del tiempo" (the speed of time), in which he has managed to capture instants where the speed created, in a specific moment, bubbles in the ocean, shadows in the wall or emptiness in a movie theater. The photographs show "the speed of time, of every time, of our time", says Zuzunaga.

Carlos Cornejo, designer and sculptor, presents an exhibition which shows a very imaginative approach to furniture design, managing to transform daily life situations into celebrated and original. Cornejo studied architecture and sculpture at the Visual Arts School at Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería and has 25 years of experience in furniture design.

Número 2 by "Huanchaco" - Exhibition

Número 2 is an exhibition about the second part of the comic story Superchaco, by Fernando Gutiérrez / Huanchaco. Here, Gutiérrez tells the tale of Superchaco and one of the most respected heroes of Peruvian history, Miguel Grau, together on the quest for the Huáscar vessel (Grau’s warship during the Naval Combat of Angamos). The story is told in a series of photographs, paintings, videos and drawings, and the characters are interpreted by Fernando Gutiérrez (Superchaco) and Germán Seminario (Grau) who is actually Miguel Grau’s great-grandson.

Quilombolas - Tradición y Cultura de Resistencia - Photography Exhibition

Quilombolas, Tradición y Cultura de Resistencia (Quilombolas, Tradition and a Culture of Resistence) is an exhibition of twenty-seven black and white photographs of the black communities of Brazil. These communities are found in the Brazilian quilombos (Sao Paulo, Pará, Goiás, Bahía, Río de Janeiro, and other cities). The photographs were taken by André Cypriano, and they have already been exhibited in Buenos Aires (Argentina), La Paz (Bolivia), Montevideo (Uruguay), Asunción (Paraguay) and in fifteen Brazilian cities.

Here, his pictures capture the essence of Afro-Peruvian culture in our country: their traditions, daily life, art, leaders… Martín Alvarado is also producer of the cultural TV show, “Costumbres” (‘Customs’) and has also exhibited his photographs four years ago in ‘Este Es Mi Cariño’ (‘This is my Affection’).

La Soledad del Artista - Art Exhibition

A deserved tribute to the memory of Victor Humareda (1920-1986), the National Institute of Culture has prepared a recollection of the artist’s paintings as an exhibition that will be displayed in the Museo de la Nación. Victor Humareda’s works of art reflect his passion for painting harlequins, ballerinas, bullfighters and landscapes from a very traditional Lima. Not only will you admire Humareda’s unique talent, precision and perfection, but also contemplate the works of one of the greatest painters in Peruvian history.

Mal de Juventud - Theater

Written in 1926 by the German author Ferdinand Bruckner, it tells the story of the desire, repression and turbulence of a group of young medicine students gathered in a pension, who are in a constant destructive game with their sexuality, the excess and mutual dependence in their search for giving sense to their lifes.

Carlos Galdos: Nadie me Quita lo Bailado

This monologue is a tribute to the 80's. It's a summary of the feeling many of us felt and enjoyed during that time. Throughout the show, Galdos will make a nostalgic flashback of the songs and dances of the time, always adding his particular sense of humor.

Kimbafá: La Ciudad Suena

Kimbafá, a show which mixes rhythm, percussion and Afro-Peruvian dance, transforms these elements into language, with many underlying themes that exemplify the flamboyant elements of everyday life in Lima. Every instrument in the show comes together in perfect harmony. Lima is a city that is crying out and wants desperately to be heard. Kimbafá and its different sound portrays Lima in different stages: Lima at dawn, Popular Lima, a Joyful Lima. The show is a manifestation of people who enjoy their roots deeply and express their joy freely without boundaries.

La Asombrosa Fabula del Rey Ciervo



This is a fun, magical story written by the Italian Carlo Gozzi, who was inspired by classic characters of the comedy art. It's about king Deramo, who was turned into a deer by the first minister, Tartaglia so that he could keep the throne. Directed by Giovanni Ciccia and an amazing cast this play promises to be one of the favorites of 2009.

Postales de Lima- Exhibition


Lima's Art Museum (MALI) is presenting "Postales de Lima" (Postcards of Lima), an exhibition that gathers a selection of around 70 pieces of work from the first half of the XX century. The selection revises the meaning of those images, and incorporates different phenomena that define the multicultural identity of the city of Lima.

La Bella y la Bestia - Children's Theater

El Soldadito de Plomo - Children's Theater

Does the name Hans Christian Andersen sound familiar to you? Well it should because he is one of the most famous fairy tale writers to have ever existed and, for a limited of time, Teatro Larco will be presenting one of his works live on stage. The Brave Tin Soldier, one of Andersen’s classics, is a tale of toy soldiers who have the special power of becoming alive at night. Watch the excitement and drama unfold as one particular soldier tries to woo the girl of his dreams.
