Noche de Arte (Art Night) is considered to be the biggest exhibition/sale of art of the country. It will count with the participation of over 400 artists that will present around 800 pieces of work. The main objective of the exhibition/sale is to gather founds for different charity institutions that need the money to continue working and developing. Now, 40 years after the first Art Night took place, over 100 charity institutions have benefit of this event. It's a great opportunity to help the needy and enjoy the best art works of the country!

Gran Semana de Lima - Cultural Event

Eternity- Video/Photographs Exhibition
Eternity is the name of the latest exhibition that the Hollander artist Wouter Verhoeven is presenting at Revolver Gallery. His videos and photographs have been described as "moving paintings" that reflect the eternal seek for light and liberation of the human soul.

María Julia y el Árbol Gallinero- Children's Theater
The play tells the story of Maria Julia and her pet: a black hen who wants to be a mother. Maria Julia won't stop until she fulfills her pets wishes, getting into a number of adventures trying to find her a rooster. On the play, Maria Julia has a sister who helps her through rough times. It's a great play for kids between the ages of 3-12, that surprises and amuses them, teaching them about the fights between siblings and the search for creative solutions, the importance of tolerance, respect and liberty.

As part of the festival Amo Amazonia, this exhibition entitled "The Rain Man, the Earth and Sky" is taking place at the Centro Cultural Casona San Marcos. The curators of the exhibition are Gredna Landolt, Armando Williams and Luisa Belaunde. It's a great opportunity to see some amazonian art and understand their culture a little better!

Escultura de Árbol y Arte Itinerante- Recycled Materials Sculpture
As part of the festival Amo Amazonía, the artist Francisco Burga will intervene at the Parque de la Amistad with a 5-meter wide sculpture made of recycled metal and plastic bottles as well as messages of kids from Lima and the communities of Puerto Firmeza, ANIA, Colegio André Malraux, Mukmu and Puckllay in the rainforest.

Gran Maratón de RPP - Sports Event

As part of the
Gran Semana de Lima (Great Week of Lima), the
Gran Maratón de RPP will take place this Sunday. The race can be either 10 km or 21 km long, depending on what you sign up for. This will be the race's 8th anniversary and, like last year, promises to be an athletic success.

La Noche de los Asesinos (The Night of the Murderers) is a thriller that tells the story of three brothers, Lalo, Cuca and Beba. They are involved in a forbidden and dangerous game: the illogical transformation of the house they live in and the possible representation of their parents murder. A psychotic game that shows how the brothers are incapable of making life decisions, and how they are the representation of the things they criticize the most.

Casa Cor Perú 2009- Design Exhibition

This year Casa Cor Perú 2009 opens its doors to present the most modern advances in sustainable design. 62 professionals will be participating in the event, showing modern, creative and fresh ideas that are friendly to the environment. They have decorated 42 different rooms of the old Rossel House, making it look like a beautiful old fashioned European village house that blends perfectly the contemporary with the antique. It's a great opportunity to see some of the greatest decorative and architectonic proposals!

Oscilando Como El Paisaje - Art Exhibition
Oscilando Como El Paisaje (Oscillating Like The Landscape) is artist Carolina Kecskemethy's 7th individual exhibition. Her work here consists of great wall murals in which she combines landscape paintings and digital drawings with floral and erotic motifs, and focuses poetically on time, travel and the landscape. All of the exhibits intertwine among themselves to transmit different aspects of Kecskemethy's message.

Hijos del Sol y de la Tierra - Photography Exhibition
As part of the festival Amo Amazonía (I love the Amazon), photographer Monica Newton will exhibit a selection of 21 photographs of villages in the depths of the Amazon. Ever since the start of her career as a photojournalist in 1991, Monica has traveled extensively throughout the Peruvian jungle, always capturing on film the essence of the Amazon people. Nowadays, she considers these Hijos del Sol y de la Tierra (Children of the Sun and Earth) her mentors and teachers, because they have taught respect, care, gratitude, and to love life and nature as the most valuable things on this Earth.

Mundo Viñeta 09 - Comics Festival
This month, cultural institutions like the Goethe Institute Lima, the Centro Cultural de España (Spanish Cultural Center), The Swedish Embassy, the Alianza Francesa de Lima (French Alliance of Lima), the Centro Cultural Peruano Japonés (Peruvian-Japanese Cultural Center) and Nagra (Comics’ Society) have put together a major comics festival: Mundo Viñeta 09. Events include conferences, exhibitions, workshops and films, as well as visits from very talented French, German and Spanish artists.

Volpone - Theater
A satyrical comedy by Ben Jonson, directed by Roberto Ángeles, about noble (and not so noble) Limenian men whose main interest in life is to make their fortune grow, no matter how absurd things might get or the cost others have to pay at the expense of their ambition. Volpone (interpreted by Alberto Ísola) is a wealthy man who, with the help of his parasytical servant, Mosca, pretends to be on his deathbed in order to fool those who dream of his inheritance. A very promising performance, set in colonial times, Volpone is definitely an opportunity to have a good laugh!

Desnudar Los Ojos - Exhibition
Wouter Verhoeven is a Dutch artist who has chosen to create a unique form of expression in the combination of modernity (video installations) and the classicism of painting. Critics have recently described his work as “moving paintings”, where Verhoeven brings alive the very essence of time, light and the purity of the world around us. The shooting for this exhibition took place in a very modest home in El Agustino, a socioeconomically deprived area in the outskirts of Lima. La Chunga- Theater

After 20 years, one of the most famous plays by the recognized Peruvian writer, Mario Vargas Llosa returns to the stage. La Chunga was written in 1985 and tells the story of a romance, a crime or a fantastic event, depending on who's the one telling the story. The main character is a mature women "La Chunga", filled with sensuality an mystery. The plot revolves around her, when a group of friends tries to remember what happened on her room the night she put up an innocent girl. Touching themes such as power, death and freedom, It's a wonderful play that mixes the fantastic and the harsh Latin American reality.

Una Mirada al Paisaje Ancestral de los Yánesha - Exhibition
This exhibition has been organized as part of the cultural festival Amo Amazonía (I Love Amazonía). It includes drawings, songs, maps and documentaries that tell the history and vision of the Yánesha indigenous tribe. The Yánesha people live at the heart of the central Peruvian jungle, and they possess a very important oral tradition that keeps alive their culture, beliefs and ancestral roots.

Northern Stars - Design Exhibition
Northern Stars, organized by the Finnish Embassy, the Design Museum of Helsinki and ICPNA, is an exhibition of the best of Nordic design (especially Finnish) over the last 100 years. The exhibition consists of approximately 200 pieces, including textiles, furniture, metal and glass artifacts, and the finest of industrial design. After being exhibited in Lima, the display will start a journey around the most important American and European cities.

Centro Abierto 09 - Exhibition
This year, the Museo de Arte de Lima (Lima Art Museum), Alta Tecnología Andina and Fundación Telefónica called on Peruvian and Latin-American artists to create specific site projects for the Centro Histórico de Lima (Historical Downtown Lima). The artists came up with very creative and unusual proposals, the best of which will be exhibited during La Gran Semana de Lima (Great Week of Lima) and carried out over the next few months.

Las Romeríssimas - Concert
Sisters Barbara and Elena Romero, popularly known as “Las Romeríssimas”, will sing again as a duo in a new performance called Las Romeríssimas: En El Túnel Del Tiempo (The Romeríssimas: In the Tunnel of Time). To celebrate the Italian restaurant Antica’s 10th anniversary, the sisters will be singing popular songs from the 60s and 70s every Saturday.
