The members of the European Union, the European Commission Delegation and the Film Library of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Peru present the XXI European Film Festival. This year, there will be exhibitions of films from Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Spain, France, Italy, Latvia, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Finland, Sweden, the UK and Switzerland as a guest country. Mariposas del Cielo: Encuentro de Cometas - Exhibition
Mariposas del Cielo: Encuentro de Cometas (Butterflies of the Sky: Kite Metting) is an exhibition that gathers the parcitipation of several countries typically involved in kite flying games, and looks to promote this unique tradition, as well as to encourage teamwork and creativity. Visitors will be taken on an imaginary journey through the history of kites and their presence in countries like China, Japan, Indonesia and India.

Vírgenes Urbanas - Photography Exhibition

In Vírgenes Urbanas (Urban Virgins), artist Ana Orbegoso has combined colonial paintings from Cuzco with elements of contemporary urban life, creating a singular effect that highlights the true value of Peruvian women today. Orbegoso's photographs find a balance in the fusion of the traditional Andean culture and the modern, urban reality. The exhibition is part of the festival Mirafoto 09.

At the heart of Barranco, Lima's bohemian quarter, where artists and poets are born every day, lies the new art gallery "Arte San Francisco". The gallery is located at the
Plaza San Francisco, a beautiful plaza surrounded by magnificent colonial architecture where you will also find the
Iglesia San Francisco (San Francisco Church) and the poet José María Eguren's home. The gallery has various displays, including antiques, and painting and sculpture exhibitions.

Madrid Mirada, 14 Artistas Latinoamericanos- Photography Exhibition
This exhibition gathers the work of 14 Latin American photographers that take over the city of Madrid as the source of their creativity. "Madrid Mirada" (A look at Madrid) is composed of photographs that show politic themes, that interact with photographic objects and pictures that play with their own shadows and stereotyped images. It will also count with video and sound reproductions, and much more.

II Concurso Escolar de Historieta - Contest

Centro de la Imagen invites all students coursing their penultimate or their last year in school (
cuarto y quinto de media) to participate in the II Comics Contest for Scholars, the goal of which is to raise awareness about the importance of comics as an essential means of communication. The jury will composed by prominent artists, like the popular
Huanchaco, Cherman, Nicolás Yeroví and Natalia Iguiñiz. Prizes include scholarships, Faber Castell products, an Ipod Shuffle, a Panasonic camera and much more! Your comics may be delivered at

Aviones de Papel- Theater
Aviones de Papel (Paper Planes) tells the story of Diego and Beatriz, two people that are forced to live together on an apartment separated only by a thin wall. They can't stand each other, but when the wall falls down, their lives change completely. The play is a production of the PUCP and Carlos La Rosa, directed by Alberto Isola and the performances of recognized artists like Omar García and Mirella Balsamo.

Senda de Oro - Art Exhibition
Senda de Oro (Golden Pathway) is an art exhibition by Cuco Morales, a very respected Peruvian painter concerned with representing the beauty of nature in his creations. Here, the artist has worked with acrylics on canvas, combining them with copper and bronce dust to create a unique effect. His paintings are mostly done in warm colors in order to emphasize the overall message of his exhibition - the golden pathway.

Inventario - Art Exhibition

A very interesting artistic proposal,
Inventario (Inventory) is an painting exhibition that gathers the most significant work of five artists from Trujillo: Oscar Alarcón, Juan Carlos Alvarado, Juan Chávez, Manolo Rodríguez and Silvia and Jean Paul Zelada. The artists have found their inspiration in the simple, ordinary objects and places of everyday life, and have chosen to represent them as though they were distantly contemplating them.

Eternity- Video/Photographs Exhibition

Mesas de Centro en Acero - Exhibition

In 2008,
Corporación Aceros Arequipa S.A. (Arequipa Steel Corporation) organized the
1er Concurso Regional de Carpintería Metálica (1st Regional Contest of Metallic Carpentry) in which contestants were faced with the challenge of creating a very imaginative center table. The idea was to encourage the growth of metallic carpentry in furniture design and promote regional development. The best designs will be exhibited for a week as very interesting artistically functional proposals.

El Hombre LLuvia, El Cielo y la Tierra- Exhibition
As part of the festival Amo Amazonia, this exhibition entitled "The Rain Man, the Earth and Sky" is taking place at the Centro Cultural Casona San Marcos. The curators of the exhibition are Gredna Landolt, Armando Williams and Luisa Belaunde. It's a great opportunity to see some amazonian art and understand their culture a little better!

Escultura de Árbol y Arte Itinerante- Recycled Materials Sculpture
As part of the festival Amo Amazonía, the artist Francisco Burga will intervene at the Parque de la Amistad with a 5-meter wide sculpture made of recycled metal and plastic bottles as well as messages of kids from Lima and the communities of Puerto Firmeza, ANIA, Colegio André Malraux, Mukmu and Puckllay in the rainforest.

Ofrendas: Máximo Laura - Exhibition

Máximo Laura is a contemporary self-taught artist whose work focuses on using textiles as a form of artistic expression. Laura was born in Huamanga, Ayacucho, a town in the Peruvian Andes, and is currently one of the most respected textile designers at a national and international level, having participated in over 60 individual exhibitions throughout his life. Ofrendas (Offerings) will be held as part of the celebrations for the 30th anniversary of the Museo de Arte y Tradiciones Populares del Instituto Riva-Agüero (Art and Popular Traditions Museum at Riva-Agüero Institute).

Adolecentes- Photography Exhibition
As part of the 7th International Photography Festival "Mirafoto", the artist Ana Cecilia Gonzales Vigil will present her latest work entitled "Adolecentes" (Teenagers). The exhibition is composed of a series of portraits in black and white, through which the artist intends to explore the motivations of a group of young people between the ages of 13-19, who were born between 1989 and 1995.

Póster: Revirtiendo el Ícono - Exhibition
Póster: Revirtiendo el Ícono (Poster: Reverting the Icon) is an exhibition which displays the extremes to which the human need for role models in a consumerist society move people to admire and elevate ordinary images to the status of universal icons. The artists have chosen to work with posters because of their particular significance as key elements in propaganda, such that they can confront the spectator by sarcastically showing human fanatism and people's desperate need for idealized models.

Oscilando Como El Paisaje - Art Exhibition
Oscilando Como El Paisaje (Oscillating Like The Landscape) is artist Carolina Kecskemethy's 7th individual exhibition. Her work here consists of great wall murals in which she combines landscape paintings and digital drawings with floral and erotic motifs, and focuses poetically on time, travel and the landscape. All of the exhibits intertwine among themselves to transmit different aspects of Kecskemethy's message.

Backstage - Photography Exhibition

In
Backstage, her latest exhibition, photographer Sonia Cunliffe transports the observer to a world of movement, color, light and style, her images capturing the essence of one of the most popular fashion events in Latin America: Sao Paulo Fashion Week. Cunliffe has recently graduated from a Master Course in Photography at the Pan American School of Art in Sao Paulo.

Volpone - Theater
A satyrical comedy by Ben Jonson, directed by Roberto Ángeles, about noble (and not so noble) Limenian men whose main interest in life is to make their fortune grow, no matter how absurd things might get or the cost others have to pay at the expense of their ambition. Volpone (interpreted by Alberto Ísola) is a wealthy man who, with the help of his parasytical servant, Mosca, pretends to be on his deathbed in order to fool those who dream of his inheritance. A very promising performance, set in colonial times, Volpone is definitely an opportunity to have a good laugh!

1st Bike Tour Around Lake Titikaka

After 20 years, one of the most famous plays by the recognized Peruvian writer, Mario Vargas Llosa returns to the stage. La Chunga was written in 1985 and tells the story of a romance, a crime or a fantastic event, depending on who's the one telling the story. The main character is a mature women "La Chunga", filled with sensuality an mystery. The plot revolves around her, when a group of friends tries to remember what happened on her room the night she put up an innocent girl. Touching themes such as power, death and freedom, It's a wonderful play that mixes the fantastic and the harsh Latin American reality.

Una Mirada al Paisaje Ancestral de los Yánesha - Exhibition
This exhibition has been organized as part of the cultural festival Amo Amazonía (I Love Amazonía). It includes drawings, songs, maps and documentaries that tell the history and vision of the Yánesha indigenous tribe. The Yánesha people live at the heart of the central Peruvian jungle, and they possess a very important oral tradition that keeps alive their culture, beliefs and ancestral roots.
