"Museum Treasures" - Exhibition

For the X Meet for the Promotion and Diffusion of Intangible Heritage of the Iberoamerican Countries, the Museum of Popular Art and Tradition of the Institute Riva Agüero of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú will celebrate its 30th anniversary with the exhibition “Museum Treasures” (Tesoros de Museo). There will be fourteen rooms showing part of the museum’s collection gathered in these 30 years. The actual collection is made up of approximately 10,000 pieces made of different materials and coming from different places. This is an exhibition you cannot miss.
The opening will be Monday 9th November at 7:30pm and it will remain open until April of next year.

Goodbye Lenin - Comedy

East of Berlin in autumn 1989: Alex Kerner’s mother is in a coma after having a heart attack and misses the fall of the Berlin Wall. During the summer of 1990, she wakes up from the coma and the doctor explains that ay excitement could have fatal consequences for her. Alex has to make sure that she does not find out about the collapse of the SED (Socialist Unity Party). Alex and his friends pretend that the GDR still exists to fool the woman until the truth is out in the light. This clever comedy was the most successful film of 2003. Its director is Wolfgang Becker and it is in German with Spanish subtitles.

Nach Dem Fall (After the Fall) - Documentary Movie

Nach Dem Fall or “After the fall” is a documentary film about the disappearance of the Berlin Wall. It collects testimonies of an American historian, a Berlin priest and a Bavarian demolition expert who agree on the fact that those responsible for the demolition, eager to forget the past, destroyed the Berlin Wall in a radical and hasty way. The emptiness created by this eradication of memories has, amongst other absurd consequences, a remedy manufactured by British homeopaths made from pulverized concrete from the wall. The film is in German with Spanish subtitles and is directed by Frauke Sanding.

"Horizons With no Memories" by the Plastic Artist Rember Yahuarcani

Rember Yahuarcani, a young artist from the Huitoto culture in the Amazon, has become well known not only in our country but also abroad. He did not take any sort of art lessons; he taught himself and his work has evolved with time. This exhibition submerges us into a magical world where we will learn what the feminine presence means in his culture. Women give life but also maintain it and guarantee its continuity. To the artist, this showing is not about myths, history and traditions but about characters under a different light: his own, with movements and shapes from the Amazon that do not necessarily have a historic base in the Huitoto culture. XXI European Film Festival

The members of the European Union, the European Commission Delegation and the Film Library of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Peru present the XXI European Film Festival. This year, there will be exhibitions of films from Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Spain, France, Italy, Latvia, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Finland, Sweden, the UK and Switzerland as a guest country. Eklegein - Art Exhibition

The collective art exhibition Eklegein gathers the work of a variety of Peruvian artists from the group Yurakyana, each of whom has translated their experiences and realities into very interesting pieces of work, using different styles and techniques. They also explore, in a more general way, the role of Peruvian artists in a society which is slowly forgetting the essence and importance of artistic expression today.

Encuentro de Coreógrafos at ICPNA - Dance Performance

The Encuentro de Coreógrafos is an event sponsored by ICPNA and the Consejo Nacional de Danza (National Dance Council) which gathers the participation of national and international coreographers. Don Juan Tenorio - Theater

Don Juan Tenorio, the mythical character, famous for his love affairs and the confrontations with his rivals, and featured in the most celebrated plays of Spanish writer Jose Zorrilla, reappears in Lima at the Museum Cemetery Presbítero Maestro. The play includes the participation of actors Ofelia Lazo, Fernando Petong, José Luis Ruiz, Mónica Domínguez, Víctor Prada, Patricia Biffi, Héctor Rodríguez and Kike Casterot, and live music directed Rodrigo Raez.

Premio Odebretch Para El Desarrollo Sostenible - Contest

In today's world, development cannot stop, and it is our responsibility to attend to the needs of people today withouth affecting those of poeple tomorrow. Laboratorio - Photography Exhibition

As part of the Mirafoto Festival, ICPNA presents Jorge Ochoa's Laboratorio (Laboratory), an exhibition where the artist has focused his work on people's relationship with food and drinks. Also, Ochoa was last year's winner of the Salón Nacional de Fotografía ICPNA (National Photography Showroom ICPNA 2008).

Hojeando... Cuatro Décadas de Libros y Revistas de Artista en España - Exhibition

Hojeando... Cuatro Décadas de Libros y Revistas de Artista en España (Four Decades of Artist Books and Magazines in Spain) is an exhibition that explores the role and impact of artist book and magazine publications in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Works by artists like Miguel Barceló, Muntadas, Eduardo Arroyo, Joan Brossa, Alicia Framis and many others, have been included. The exhibition has been organized by the Sociedad Estatal para la Acción Cultural Exterior de España SEACEX (Spanish State Society for Cultural Action Abroad SEACEX) in collaboration with other institutions, in order to promote Spanish culture in other countries.

Martial Arts Demonstration

Art in Galería Arte San Francisco

At the heart of Barranco, Lima's bohemian quarter, where artists and poets are born every day, lies the new art gallery "Arte San Francisco". En El Tiempo De Las Diosas - Exhibition

In this exhibition, artists Teresa Carvallo and Ana María Guevara combine in a very particular way the singularity of women and the essence of the Andean cultures. En El Tiempo De Las Diosas (At The Goddesses' Time) draws a comparison between women today and Andean goddesses throughout history, portraying women as true divinities.

Madrid Mirada, 14 Artistas Latinoamericanos- Photography Exhibition

This exhibition gathers the work of 14 Latin American photographers that take over the city of Madrid as the source of their creativity. "Madrid Mirada" (A look at Madrid) is composed of photographs that show politic themes, that interact with photographic objects and pictures that play with their own shadows and stereotyped images. It will also count with video and sound reproductions, and much more.

II Concurso Escolar de Historieta - Contest

The Centro de la Imagen invites all students coursing their penultimate or their last year in school (cuarto y quinto de media) to participate in the II Comics Contest for Scholars, the goal of which is to raise awareness about the importance of comics as an essential means of communication. The jury will composed by prominent artists, like the popular Huanchaco, Cherman, Nicolás Yeroví and Natalia Iguiñiz. Prizes include scholarships, Faber Castell products, an Ipod Shuffle, a Panasonic camera and much more! Your comics may be delivered at Centro de la Imagen until November 10th. Margarita- Theater

Enjoy this great comedy written in verse, directed by Nicolás Yerovi. In the year 1822 in the district of Pueblo Libre, Lima, a young woman named Margarita is in loved. However, her aunt will arrange a marriage against her will, doing whatever it takes to stop Margarita's love, causing the most hilarious situations. The play will take place around the district itself, giving the audience the opportunity to experience a little bit of everything: history, music, dance, tourism, drama and comedy. It will also count with a cast of 17 actors and 9 musicians that will perform live. It's a great opportunity to know a little bit more of the city and enjoy yourself!

Caricias (Caress) involves a round of characters that seek desperately for love and affection, because they just don't know how to do it. They're clumsy or have no attitude or knowledge to find it. They get tangled in a series of relationships that end up in bad breakups, instead of getting what they want: to ask for a caress or to caress the other.

Senda de Oro - Art Exhibition

Senda de Oro (Golden Pathway) is an art exhibition by Cuco Morales, a very respected Peruvian painter concerned with representing the beauty of nature in his creations. Here, the artist has worked with acrylics on canvas, combining them with copper and bronce dust to create a unique effect. His paintings are mostly done in warm colors in order to emphasize the overall message of his exhibition - the golden pathway.

Inventario - Art Exhibition

A very interesting artistic proposal, Inventario (Inventory) is an painting exhibition that gathers the most significant work of five artists from Trujillo: Oscar Alarcón, Juan Carlos Alvarado, Juan Chávez, Manolo Rodríguez and Silvia and Jean Paul Zelada. The artists have found their inspiration in the simple, ordinary objects and places of everyday life, and have chosen to represent them as though they were distantly contemplating them.

Escultura de Árbol y Arte Itinerante- Recycled Materials Sculpture

As part of the festival Amo Amazonía, the artist Francisco Burga will intervene at the Parque de la Amistad with a 5-meter wide sculpture made of recycled metal and plastic bottles as well as messages of kids from Lima and the communities of Puerto Firmeza, ANIA, Colegio André Malraux, Mukmu and Puckllay in the rainforest.

Ofrendas: Máximo Laura - Exhibition

Máximo Laura is a contemporary self-taught artist whose work focuses on using textiles as a form of artistic expression. Laura was born in Huamanga, Ayacucho, a town in the Peruvian Andes, and is currently one of the most respected textile designers at a national and international level, having participated in over 60 individual exhibitions throughout his life. Ofrendas (Offerings) will be held as part of the celebrations for the 30th anniversary of the Museo de Arte y Tradiciones Populares del Instituto Riva-Agüero (Art and Popular Traditions Museum at Riva-Agüero Institute).

Adolecentes- Photography Exhibition

As part of the 7th International Photography Festival "Mirafoto", the artist Ana Cecilia Gonzales Vigil will present her latest work entitled "Adolecentes" (Teenagers). The exhibition is composed of a series of portraits in black and white, through which the artist intends to explore the motivations of a group of young people between the ages of 13-19, who were born between 1989 and 1995.

Póster: Revirtiendo el Ícono - Exhibition

Póster: Revirtiendo el Ícono (Poster: Reverting the Icon) is an exhibition which displays the extremes to which the human need for role models in a consumerist society move people to admire and elevate ordinary images to the status of universal icons. The artists have chosen to work with posters because of their particular significance as key elements in propaganda, such that they can confront the spectator by sarcastically showing human fanatism and people's desperate need for idealized models.

Un-Faces - Exhibition

Backstage - Photography Exhibition

In Backstage, her latest exhibition, photographer Sonia Cunliffe transports the observer to a world of movement, color, light and style, her images capturing the essence of one of the most popular fashion events in Latin America: Sao Paulo Fashion Week. Cunliffe has recently graduated from a Master Course in Photography at the Pan American School of Art in Sao Paulo. Backstage will be open to the public for a month.

Don Juan Regresa de la Guerra- Theater

Don Juan, a soldier that's fiscally and mentally destroyed after World War I returns to his home looking for his lost girlfriend, which he abandoned before going to war. Volpone - Theater

A satyrical comedy by Ben Jonson, directed by Roberto Ángeles, about noble (and not so noble) Limenian men whose main interest in life is to make their fortune grow, no matter how absurd things might get or the cost others have to pay at the expense of their ambition. Volpone (interpreted by Alberto Ísola) is a wealthy man who, with the help of his parasytical servant, Mosca, pretends to be on his deathbed in order to fool those who dream of his inheritance. A very promising performance, set in colonial times, Volpone is definitely an opportunity to have a good laugh!

La Chunga- Theater

After 20 years, one of the most famous plays by the recognized Peruvian writer, Mario Vargas Llosa returns to the stage. La Chunga was written in 1985 and tells the story of a romance, a crime or a fantastic event, depending on who's the one telling the story. The main character is a mature women "La Chunga", filled with sensuality an mystery. The plot revolves around her, when a group of friends tries to remember what happened on her room the night she put up an innocent girl. Touching themes such as power, death and freedom, It's a wonderful play that mixes the fantastic and the harsh Latin American reality.
