Pisco Sour for everyone! Every February, on the first Saturday of the month, Peruvians celebrate the Día Nacional del Pisco Sour (National Pisco Sour Day). This year, the Municipality of Jesús María invites everyone to join them in the Feria Gastronómica Cebi-Pisco 2010, a festival which will offer cocktail degustations, ceviche, folklore performances, contests much more!
Don't miss the Festival Nacional del Pisco Sour (National Pisco Sour Festival) this weekend to be held at Parque de la Amistad, in Surco. There will be degustations, contests, exhibits and much, much more to celebrate Peruvians' pride in their national drink: pisco sour.
Every year, the Fiesta de la Candelaria in Puno honors the Virgen de la Candelaria, Lady of Puno and dearly loved by the locals. The festival represents one of the most important cultural and musical manifestations in Peru and South America, combining Catholic traditions with symbols of the Quechua and Aymara cultures. The Fiesta takes place during the first two weeks of February, February 2nd being the main day.
A show filled with magic and surprises, Mimagínate ("Mimagine") will surely captivate the heart of every child. Actor and mime, César Chirinos creatively combines miming and imagination in a wonderful performance for young children and their families.
This weekend in Asia, don't miss In Style, The Trendy Show, an exhibition dedicated to all women in style, produced by the young architect Cova Gonzáles. The exhibition will combine fashion, art, technology and design, displaying the latest tendencies for women today. Plus, as part of the opening ceremony, there will be an exclusive fashion show and to finish, the event will include a great party: the In Style Opening Party.

As time passes, what starts as an ironic and hilariously funny relationship between two men who hate the sight of each other, evolves into a more profound and touching story, when they both discover that, despite their differences in age and values, they are more alike than they could ever imagine. Written by Jeff Baron, Visitando al Sr. Green (Visiting Mr. Green) is a witty and highly entertaining comedy which you must not miss.
La Chunga (The Bad Girl) was written by Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa back in 1985, and tells the story of a romance, a crime, a fantastic event, (depending on the different narrators' perspectives). The main character is an adult woman, "La Chunga," whose personality is filled with sensuality and mystery. The plot revolves around her, as a group of friends try to remember what happened in her room the night she put up an innocent girl. The play explores themes such as power, death and freedom, and combines in a superb manner the harshness of Latin American reality with a world of fantasy.
As part of the International Festival Mirafoto, ICPNA invites you to visit Hidden Lives, a photography exhibition that presents the work of two artists and friends: Vivan Sundaram (India) and Anamaría McCarthy (Perú). Both women's photographs coincide in bringing back to the present their ancestors' different stories, since they are both fascinated by the idea of working with images so familiar and yet so foreign. The exhibition will be open to the general public from January 21st.

Artist Miguel Ángel Mejía will delight you with 40 full-color photographs presenting the very picturesque village of Incahuasi. Located 6 hours away from Chiclayo and 3800 m above sea level, this colorful little village (whose name means House of The Inca in Quechua) is a melting pot for culture, tradition, mystery and joviality. The opening ceremony will take place on Feb. 5, 7:30 p.m.

ICPNA Arequipa and the mining company Cerro Verde S.A. organized the XIX national contest for young artists in 2009, Premio Cerro Verde. Now, ICPNA invites you to enjoy a magnificent exhibition which gathers the work of the contest's winner artists: Erick Huanta Zevallos (1st place - general category), Lucio Puma Ydme (1st place - experimental category), César Sánchez (2nd place - general category) and Ignacio Mateo Alvaro (2nd place - experimental category). The difference between the general and experimental categories is that in the experimental category, artists were encouraged to use copper as part of their creations. The exhibition will display 30 works of art.

Bearing in mind that Lima is the only capital city in South America with a full view of the sea, the Asociación Peruana de Instructores de Tandem (Peruvian Association of Tandem Instructors) has decided to organize a tour that allows people to discover Lima from a whole new perspective. The Tour Parapente LimaVision offers you the chance to feel the adrenaline of watching Lima on one side and the vastness of the Pacific Ocean on the other, while paragliding 8 km along the Costa Verde. Flights are operated by expert tandem instructors and reach a maximum height of 500 - 700 m above the city. Feeling adventurous?
Throughout the 20th Century, hats have played quite a significant role in Peruvian society, particularly in the 40s and 50s. Sombreros: Historia y Moda (Hats: History and Fashion) is an exhibition that gathers the private hat collections of Mocha Graña, Mari Solari and Ernesto Fernández Montagne, and takes the viewer on a wonderful journey, from the austerity of the post-war decade to the glamour of the 50s. It was also during this period of time that hats were regarded as a symbol for social status and began being imported all the way from London, Paris, New York and Buenos Aires. As part of the international photography festival Mirafoto 09, ICPNA invites you to visit Testimonia Rock by photographer Danilo Vallejo García, an exhibition which gathers images, audio and texts on Ecuadorian underground rock singers. Discover the surge of metal and rock music back in the 1980s Ecuador, in cities like Quito, Guayaquil and Ambato, and the way it impacted Ecuadorian society. Opening ceremony: January 7th, 7 pm.
