The one located in Las Begonias is to small. The staff is always joking and never is concerned about the clients... some of them are rude and unpolite. Bathrooms usually are dirty.

Here in Lima, it is very important to temper one's expectations. For example, these Gold's gyms will not provide you with:
- towels
- comfortably sized lockers
- low traffic [lots of people, all the time]
- all-access to machines [must stop after 15 minutes]
- nautilus equipment
- assisted dips and pull-up machines
On the other hand, you will get:
- the chance to exercise
And sometimes, that is a pretty good start. I am not really happy with my experience having spent more than a decade in some of the finest gyms on earth. But I realize that I have the basics to keep healthy and there doesn't seem to be a better alternative.
So, again, temper your expectations and come with a patient and positive attitude. And remember to bring your own towels!!!

This is regarding the Benevedes / Miraflores location. I've been there 2 years and have gone religiously for the entire duration.
Positives:
- Nice and friendly staff that stays out of your way. I hate nosey gym staff that want to give you advice. If I want help I will ask and Gold's gym staff seem to appreciate this.
- Equipment is modern, new and well kept
- Hours of operation are reasonable
Negatives:
- Staff does not instruct members on gym etiquette. I constantly see idiot members not returning weights, not using towels, and hogging 3 machines at the same time. Gym staff should instruct members how to behave in a gym. This probably happens in all gyms in Lima as Peruvians in general do not usually worry about anyone but themselves in public places.
- Too crowded.
- Not enough equipment. Only 1 squat rack. If someone is using the squat rack for a while you're screwed.
- No pull up bar. Just the crappy handles on the cross over cable machine. So if 2 people are on the cables forget about pull ups. Cable machine is the most popular equipment in the gym.
- No area for dead lifts and barbell exercises. There is no open area at all other than the abs area. There is no decent place to put a barbell nd do some overhead presses or dead lifts. You have to go crowd yourself somewhere and deal with people walking right next to you while cleaning heavy weight over your head.
- 15 minutes and the cardio machines die and you need to restart. 15 minutes???? Ridiculous.
Overall I can't recommend this gym for a serious weight lifter. In fact I've not found a real gym in or around Miraflores yet. They are all basically how i describe (Energym, Millenium, Larco Mar).

I´ve been working out the last two weeks at the Gold´s Gym in Jesus Maria. I´d say it´s a good place to keep you in shape while on vacation. It´s not like home, but it has everything I need. It´s often really busy (especially on weekends) which means a lot of waiting for equipment...but I don´t mind because it gives me a good excuse to get in some extra cardio. I just hop on a treadmill or elliptical and hop off as soon as the equipment is free.
The staff are all nice and friendly. In the US the staff isn´t very eager to help unless they know they´re going to get paid their personal trainer session fee. At the JM Gold´s, they´re friendly and always looking to help out if it´s needed...but they´re not invasive. They´ll often come up and shake hands and ask how you´re doing.
While it would be nice if the gym were twice the size with twice the equipment, it´s still been a nice place to keep me at the same weight while eating a ton of delicious Peruvian food and to maintain my muscle mass until I get back home.
As a side note, the Gold´s where I work out at in the US is prety much a ¨meathead¨gym where at any given time you´re likely to have about 80% guys working out...at the JM gym, there is a nice mix of men and women...and a lot of the women are VERY beautiful...which always makes it easier to motivate yourself, as a guy, to go to the gym.
