This place is absolutely horrible.....the total package: food is disgusting, service is unfriendly and super-slow, and the prices are higher than many, many of the fantastic restaurants in Lima. It's absolutely a mystery how this place can stay in business......although somehow I got duped into going once......

How very strange you review Kabok as horrible - have been there twice: service was very friendly with owner/chef Gonzalo attentively buzzing around, food was great and food prices not bad, though middle/high on wine.
As many of the "fantastic" mega-chic restaurants in Lima are into "fusion" menus, neatly described by El Comercio newspaper as often being "con-fusion" menus, Kabok is quite creative Asian-rooted without being pretentious, definitely very good with a somewhat laid-back mood unlike some of the snootier "fusion" places.
But if you've been only once ... statistics are weak. I'm going back 3rd time this Saturday 26/4/2008 with table for 4, so will confirm the group consensus next week:
PS: now for some truly horrible "con-fusion" cuisine, try Casa Andina hotel restaurant in Urubamba - like a main course of CUY (guinea pig) dry as shoe leather, served with a sweet sauce, and sweet sweet potato puree, and soft soggy potato crisps as decoration, all at around $12 for the gullible tourists - the appropriate adjective is more nauseous than horrible!

I had the worst esperiance ever there yesterday, bad service, the food was cold, tasted horrible. When I complained about the food they just shrugged their shoulders as if to say who cares. My local chifa that I spend 15 soles for lunch is way better. Do not eat at this place.

Does anyone know where Chef Gonzalo moved on to?
