Very nice shelter in Lurin. Dogs were healthy, happy and well-fed. We adopted two dogs and were very pleased. At times, they let the dogs out to play in the yard so you can interact with all of them and find one that fits in with your family. Cost is s/70 per dog, includes rabies shot. Open Tues - Sunday, 10am - 1pm and 2pm to 5pm.

Located at Calle Los Nogales, Mz. F, lote 14, urbanización Huertos de Villena, Lurín.

I was active member of Amigos de los Animales, but I must tell you that Amigos de los Animales closed its doors on March 2008, after 30 years working for animal welfare.
They worked as the best animal protection institution in Peru, developing several kind of hard work, mainly on humane education programs, animal adoptions, against cruelty (special staff for this matter) and over population control.

It is a pity, but actually doesn´t exist another animal protection society in Peru who works as Amigos de los Animales did.

Hi Rosa,

Do you know if there have been any changes on this issue since you posted your above comment?  I'm desperately searching for any legal advice I can get on any measure or procedure to be taken/followed for cases of animal cruelty and crimes against animals.

See, my husband and I had a 1 yr 10 months Persian Himalayan female cat, her name was Chami.  We adored her!  We moved to a new apartment 5 months ago, to a condominium that is full of families with pets.  But to our horror, on Monday last week, we came back from being out for the weekend and found or Chami dead.  We took her to the vet and asked for an autopsy and toxicologic exam to be done to her and we got the results last Wednesday:  she was poisoned with Campeon in pelex (sweet tasting, sweet smelling food-concentrate-like pieces of rat poison).  Not only did they kill her without any reason and/or warning to us, but they made sure that it was one of the most long agony types of death... according to the report, the vet said her dying process must've taken aproximately 3 hours, in which she suffered an awful agony 

We don't know for sure who was her murderer (because there's no other suitable name for what they did) and we don't know of a way to find out who's this criminal is or if there's something we can legally do.  We have all the official documents from the pathologist and the toxicologist (from Universidad Mayor de San Marcos).

Please please please, since you were part of the Association, do you know of anyone that could help us?
