Awful
I went to KFC in Larco Av with my son who wanted some french fries, the biggest portion of french fries was so ridiculuos small, that 3 portions would actually make an average big portion somewhere else. I think they take advantage of being in a country where people is non well-informed and has basic education, so they cannot complain.

Regarding Mrs. Velasco message: I travel pretty often around the world and portions in the US and some other countries are, in average, much larger than here in Peru. It's not a matter of lack of education, but completely different feeding habits. If you have already visited our cinemas you may have noticed that a large pop corn or large coke is, for sure, smaller than any large one served in the US (and some places else). The same applies to cappuccinos for example.
If you try a dress in Peru...don't panic! if you are a proud Small or Medium size in the US you will find out that your right size here is actually L or XL (might have a direct relation with consumer's habits!).
By the way, if you visit Paris you might be dissappointed with the prices and portions served in their restaurants.
I hope you will spend more time in Peru to get to know our culture better, I'm sure you will understand this and many other things soon.
P.S. I'm glad your kid did not have the 3-portion-size french fries.

really it doesnt´have anything to do with education, out of focus that comment... at all, is easy to judge when you have an overall look.. ...and not everyone have a basic education, specially those whom kfc target aims in peru.

No, this has nothing to do with education.  It has to do with ignorance.  AND NOT THE IGNORANCE OF PERUVIANS!  You are a self righteous gnorant tool, with no regard to cultural differences and you would do well to stay home next time instead of trying to insult another nation by the size of their french fries at KFC!

Poor
I really do not know why you make such a fuzz about KFC, their food is FULL of FAT, increases cholesterol and is not worthy at ALL, it should be forbidden for health's sake. I never put my feet in one of those places!

Teresa Cavalli

I will agree about the ridiculous size of the fries at KFC in Peru, and also about the ridiculous size of their sodas i think if they are proud to be a franchise they must keep the same standards without caring which country they are serving. And about Marisa Mantilla comment i will tell her that i travel also a lot around the world an the feeding habits she is talking about is also as ridiculous as the size of the fries we are talking about, you can find an example of this at any peruvian snack bar, when you ask for an order of fries you receive an order of fries and not a "mini" size one, another example is the pollos a la brasa restaurants, i invite you to ask only for an order of fries, you will be surprised of what you will get. Another thing, in US KFC's they dont serve french fries and they have other sides like beans, maccaronies, corn... and dont forget the refill sodas machines at no extra cost. I will never undestand why a big franchise like this one is not interested in keeping the same standards around the world.....

Everything is bigger in America. Sometimes that's a good thing, sometimes not. Certainly the fast food giants want you to eat more of their crap so they supersize everything at an attractive price, and obesity goes through the roof. If anything, lack of education shines through when you order at these international franchises in English! If they want to be part of the global family, at least teach your employees the words "chicken" and "side dish", not too much to ask even if they are paid peanuts.

Oh please! So you're saying people are misinformed because they don't complain about the size of the fries? C'mon! In case you didn't know, most obese/overweight people live in DEVELOPED countries (most of them in the U.S.). The average Peruvian eats a MUCH healthier diet than their American counterparts. 62% of American adults are overweight. Do you think a very well-informed person would end up in that situation? Didn't think so.

So, before you start talking about people not being well-informed about their nutritional habits in Peru, maybe you should take a look at home, instead of making such ignorant, narrow-minded comments.

Greetings,

A Finnish-Peruvian living in Finland.

Very good
well i've worked in mcdonalds at US and it's true the sizes of the french fries are smaller than here but you have to think about the prices also, and it's not about people being well informed it's about what we usually eat, people in the US prefer fast food, that's their choice.
after i returned from the US I became a fan of mcdonalds food but its not like i'm gonna change my entire diet. Here in Peru we think of fast food as something we crave, not everyday food like in the US.
I think they made Mrs. Velasco's son a big favor so he can try more healthful food

Raul Parodi: go to your closest video rental and get "Supersize me". There is an specific part of the movie related to the sized of fries/burgers/drinks served in the U.S.A. and around the world.
Another thing, you say that standards must be respected around the world and it is true but that has to do only with quality. The taste of KFC, McDonalds or Burger King is exactly the same in Peru, in USA or in France but i have to disagree with you about sizes. Sizes could fluctuate depending on the market.  Just take any other company MANGO, they sell clothes all over the world, the quality of their clothing is exactly the same but you wont see the same clothes hanging on the racks in Peru or France, the colors and designs are different because it is another public...so the standards are there to be find but things like sizes change depending of the country.
You mention as well the maccaronis, beans and corn served at KFC. Well, they are doing the same that McDonalds was "forced" to do a while ago. They started serving salads due to all the "health" issues they were facing with their meals but i can assure you that those "healthy salads" are nothing but unhealthy.

If nutritional habits are different then PRICES on their serving portions should reflect that, its as simple as that, im peruvian and yes we are getting ripped off, not only in fast food services but also in a lot of other things, like telecomunications (ISPs included), fossil fuel, etc.

And yes it is true education has a lower level as a majority, some minorities might complain about this because, well they have not experienced the life most poor people have here.

Im sick and tired of all this senseless patriotism and love to a flag that blinds people and makes them puppets, for those of you, open your eyes get out of your parents home and get a high level education and a decent job, instead of being chattering and defending the undefendable in a webpage, do something so the educational level here gets higher, otherwise you are just proving a point.

its completely true, misinformation and lack of education prevents the mass from fighting for their rights in an effective way, why do you think so often they are on strike burning tires on the streets and doing vandalism??, its not like it happens everywhere and everyday, but its definitely more often than in 1st world countries.

and yes, this is a truly small drop in the ocean of injustices that happen here

Btw health issues are a whole other matter that authorities are being totally irresponsible at and/or making money illegally from. no comments on that as it is too big an issue to discuss in this little space
