Speaking strictly of the bar, it sucks. The setup is nice, the place is beautiful and it has great potential, but they tried to be trendy and cram a DJ in the corner. The speakers are at floor level and are so fricking loud, you can barely hear yourself think. Its impossible to hold a conversation, nor is there a dance floor, so I don't get the concept. You have to go outside on the balcony, which is very narrow and only has a couple of very small tables, every now and then to clear your head or if you need to tell anybody anything. However, it is fun to laugh at the Lenny Kravitz wannabe DJ, but that gets old pretty quick.

Cala is excellent.  The hospitable staff make man from Kentucky with a distinct Spanish challenge welcome.  The food is great.  The staff is great.  The prices are more than reasonable.  My last visit to Peru was a month long and I visited at least 15 restaurants in Lima.  My favorite by far was Cala where I dined with my wife and with friends at four times.

Beautiful view, great decor, great food, overall excellent. Try the "Lomo Saltado al Pisco Como lo manda Dios." Probably one of the best that i have tried in the city. Fred is right though, the lounge area is loud, but it is a lounge.....expect a younger crowd, 20-30's....

Excellent food, hip bar/lounge, great ocean view, and good prices! Everything is great except it is a bit of a place to be "seen" for (how shall I put this) p_ _ _ _ _ s. Other than that it's wonderful.

The scene is great and service is top notch but the food is the worst peruvian cuisine I have ever had.  I went with  two others and not one dish was enjoyable. The food was over priced and had no flavor, the meat was dry and under cooked, my rice was incredibly raw(How could you screw rice up in an upscale place)LOL. On the plus side the presentation and attention was great but it does not compencate for the horrible meals my friends and I had to put up with. I will never return again.

My meal was a complete dissaster, so I decided to return it. They insisted that I atleast have some type of dessert and recomended an ice-cream, so I agreed. There was a dead roach in the ice-cream and even though they apologized, I must say that the place was very dissapointing to me. I had other friends that complained about the food but I had to try it for my self. Big mistake!

Cala you broke my heart.  I have loved Cala and go there often.  Went 2/14,  We made reservations in  advance which were lost but had record of call on cell.  They gave us an awful table with like service and below average food.  The lost reservation should have been a sign. RUN

Cala is such a great restaurant. It has very innovated  peruvian cusine.My friend and I had one of the best Pisco Sour. But we were dissapointed with the service. Beside that we had a great time. Next time I  go back to Peru, I'll defenetly visit again.

the place is nice, i like the photo of the chick on the wall and the view is beautiful but the food , well lets just say that i have had  better 5 soles menus. the waiters are not very attentive, and the music is way to loud to have a normal conversation. but it is good for some drinks and a view.. nothing else.
