Rainforest Expeditions - Amazon Lodges Peru
Rainforest Expeditions (est. 1989) operates three award winning Amazon lodges: Posada Amazonas (30 rooms), Refugio Amazonas (24 rooms), and Tambopata Research Center (18 rooms). In 2006, Rainforest Expeditions expanded to the Andes with Konchukos Tambo, an excellent base for the renowned treks of Huascaran National Park and the Cordillera Blanca.
POSADA AMAZONAS opened its doors in 1998 and has become a major attraction for those looking for a short stay in the rainforest with the promise of an authentic eco-tourist experience. It is a rustic 30 bedroom first-class community partnership eco-tourist project that is jointly owned by the Ese-Eja community of Infierno and is situated inside the community's private reserve.
REFUGIO AMAZONAS: As a charming 24 bedroom lodge, it is well placed immediately adjacent to the Tambopata National Reserve.
In collaboration with ANIA an environmental education NGO, Refugio Amazonas caters for families with children of all ages. Kayaking, fishing and canopy climbing among other activities are optional.
TAMBOPATA RESEARCH CENTER: The Tambopata Research Center is a simple but comfortable 18 bedroom lodge situated by the worlds largest Macaw Claylick on the uninhabited frontier of the Tambopata National Reserve and the Bahuaja-Sonene National Park. It is unrivalled in its access to pristine Amazonian forests, having no neighbours, and due to its distance from human populations requires a stopover in Refugio Amazonas.
KONCHUKOS TAMBO: This is a simple yet comfortable hotel in the heart of the Konchukos valley, adjacent to the Huascaran National Park.
Notwithstanding the stunning views of the rugged landscape, its central location within the valley makes it an ideal point from which to explore the many attractions of the valley and surrounding slopes. Great for families.
