Representatives of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and Peruvian State entities met to discuss the country’s challenges in eradicating hunger and poverty, as well as its potential contributions to the region.
El Peruano informed that also representatives of the sectors Agriculture, Environment, Production, and Development and Social Inclusion participated in this meeting.
According to María Elena Rojas, representative in charge of FAO in Peru, the strong challenge begins with the implementation of these guidelines through a massive healthy-eating campaign that needs to be implemented urgently.
The FAO recognized the significant advances of the country in the promotion of fish consumption and highlighted in the meeting that Peru is a privileged country because “the data of the last study on poverty shows a reduction of rural poverty between 1.2 and 1.8 percentage points”, said El Peruano.
