Lima Sigh dessert, a sweet temptation

By Mariella Mazzei
Traslation by Angélica Villanuev

With a little of creativity and sugar, several desserts were created, such as the ranfañotes, turrones, sanguitos, suspiro a la limeña (Lima sigh), which name, nobody knows for sure, if it was originated by its flavor or a colonial woman's overcoat drawing steps by the sidewalk.

The Peruvian pastrymaking is a tradition. Before the arrival of the Spaniards, sweets were already center of attention, and our ancient cultures knew to develop the use of the fruits for preparing them.

Lima's Sigh is one of the jewels of the Peruvian pastrymaking, for being part of the artisan gastronomy has became a dessert of the fine cuisine.

It is also a symbol of the Peruvian culture, from the coast. It gathers together all people, Peruvian and foreign visitors, and due to this characteristic, it is recognized as a flagship product.

Lima Sigh can be tasted in any season of the year and nearly anywhere. The different presentations and varieties, derived from the creativity of new chefs, have driven it to be a demanded dessert. Moreover, there is no one that during a gastronomy’s incursion has avoided to taste it.
