Every time I think I've started to get a good grasp on Peruvian gastronomy, somebody approaches me with a creative new angle that makes me have to rethink the whole thing. This week, I had a chance to try out the Bonaparte Gourmet Deli. The philosophy of Bonaparte is simple and brilliant, they understand that the demands of the typical person's schedule don't allow them to go out for fine dining with the frequency they would like. To that end, Bonaparte has devised a way in which you can easily enjoy gourmet meals in the comfort of your home or office!
Located at 2344 Benavides (a block and a half from "La Merced"), Bonaparte is an attractive little store with a bright and inviting sheen. When you enter, you are confronted with a plethora of canned, frozen, and bagged goods all of which are homemade and begging to be consumed. From noodles, to jams, to frozen waffles, Bonaparte is sure to have some version of an old favorite with a spectacular new (or at least enhanced) flavor.
Upon my arrival, I was quickly taken to the lunch display which boasts a wide variety of vacuum packed meals. They explained that these meals are for those times when you just become too busy to cook for yourself. With Bonaparte's prepackaged servings, all you have to do is pop them into some boiling water or a microwave, and you have a fantastic meal ready in only a few minutes! The prices are consistent with what you might pay for a daily menu, but believe me when I tell you that the quality is much, much higher.
I had the opportunity to try the Chicken and rice with Funghi which was a creamy, spectacular dish. Bonaparte sells its various sides and entrees separately, so you're free to experiment with whatever combination you desire. The portions that they opened for us would have easily fed three people, and the total cost was 20 S/. for the chicken and 15 S/. for the Funghi/rice. The food was so creamy and rich that I skipped dinner that evening!

After the lunch, we tried their apple and lemon pie. The Peruvian version of apple pie tends to be a little sour for my liking, but at Bonaparte, the flavor was light and sweet, an the lemon pie was tangy and delightful.
is for a minimum of 6 people as it contains approximately 3 kilos of prime beef. As they explained it to me, I found myself checking my mental calendar for upcoming events which I could use as an excuse to throw a rib-eye party! The price varies by weight but is around S/. 375 (a good price for 500 grams of meat per person), additions like their potato accompaniment raise the price to S/. 450.
kaged meals are a wonder, and, as long as you had a good cooler, you could load them up for a weekend trip and eat like a king at the beach or any other fun location of your choosing. I think that I might even plan some trips like this, just to have an excuse to enjoy the treat of Bonaparte's products. martine lebacq says :

Me parece fabuloso el lugar. Me hace acordar a los tiempos de Solari. El concepto es muy parecido.
