The Pisco Festival moves to Lunahuaná where the best exponents of our national drink will share their experiences in the VIII Pisco National Congress that will take place October 22nd-24th in Cañete.
Around 700 producers will participate in this great national convention, where 45% of the attendees come from Ica (315), 25% from Lima (175), 15% from Arequipa (105), 10% from Tacna (70) and 5% from Moquegua (35).
The making process of Pisco has awoken interest outside the country; the participation of the Chilean company SACAF serves to show this. This company will display the subject of “treatment of the RILES (liquid wastes from the manufacture of Pisco).” Additionally, the southern company, Inrefri Ltda. will discuss the “application of cold in the wine industry.”
The same interest has been awoken in Europe. France will also make itself present in this event through Chaidronnerie Cognaçaise who will share their experience in “distillation equipment, types of stills (designs, techniques, engineering), volumes, pans, materials. The Ideal Still.”
The president of the VIII Pisco National Congress, Jaime Marimon saluted the participation of the national entrepreneurs who – he said – make the worldwide recognition of Pisco possible.
He said that the Pisco exports added up to US$ 421,729 during the first six months of 2009. Last year, over 216,000 liters of Pisco were exported for a value of 395,000 dollars. This number is expected to be surpassed by the end of this year. During the last three years, the exporting market has registered a considerable increase, from 107,000 liters in 2006 to 216,000 in 2008.
The opening of the event will be a great party because all of the population will be able to enjoy the variety of Piscos, Lunahuaná’s gastronomy and at night, there will be fireworks.
