Did you know anticuchos (beef hearts) originated as a snack prepared with the leftover food scraps?

It’s true!  This little video from NewWorlder on Youtube gives us a 40 second rundown on these delicious beef hearts that are now considered a premium option in Peruvian cuisine.

Perhaps if the oppressive 16th-century royalty were alive today, they would be confused as to why everyone was making such a fuss about “servant’s food”…

It goes to show: the variety of Peruvian cuisine reflects the depth of the country’s history and culture.
