An employee at a tourism agency in Nazca, Peru became a hero this week when he returned $14,500 that belonged to a Chinese tourist, who had lost this large amount of money while on vacation, La Republica newspaper reported.

The honest tour agent, Enrique Vílchez, who found the large sum of cash, did not hesitate to locate its owner and return it, asking nothing in exchange except the opportunity to prove his honesty and show that Peruvians have good social values.

We’re talking about $14,500. We have to do the right thing for the tourist and leave a good image of Peru so there will be more tourism here in Nazca,’ Vilchez said after returning the money.

The Chinese tourists, who arrived with a translator to receive the money he nearly parted with, said that he was happy and grateful. He even rewarded Vílchez with a thousand dollars for his good deed.

Acts such as these show why Peru is such a popular tourist destination for travelers from around the world, not only for its vast cultural and ecological diversity, but also for the good nature of its people.
We have to do the right thing for the tourist and leave a good image of Peru.
