The city of Macusani, also known as “Peru’s Alpaca capital” in the region of Puno, celebrates today the *National Alpaca Day.*
Regional authorities and local producers will also be a part of the celebrations, which will include the customary Señalacuy ceremony, a parade of alpacas, crafts and food contests, a wool spinning competition, among other activities.
Starting at 9am today, the central courtyard of the Regional Agricultural offices in Puno will host a fair *showcasing the many alpaca producers* in the region and their different textile or craft products.
The regional director of Agriculture in Puno, *William Morales Caceres,* said the celebrations for the National Day of Alpaca are intended to highlight the hard work done by breeders of these animals in the highlands of Puno, reevaluate breeding technics and stimulate the consumption of their products and byproducts.
