“I promise that 5,000 houses will be built for those affected by the 2007 earthquake under the 'Techo Propio' program from here until December,” said Peru's Housing Minister, Francis Allison, during an interview in RadioProgramas del Perú.

Allison announced that he will assume the head office of the Fund for the Reconstruction of the South (FORSUR) once the its new regulations are published in the official gazette El Peruano, which would be no longer than Thursday.

The Minister admitted that there have been delays in the reconstruction works.

“After two years, I understand many people have doubts. It's true that the works are taking too long, but it's also true that many works have been finished, too,” he sentenced.

promises are always nice-
the best thing is when they are kept.
If there is only a little doubt doubt that  something cant be sone it should not be talk about. People are already angry in the area and vey uppset about how reconstruction was handled.

While we would all like to see 5000 homes built for the families whom lost their homes in the earthquakes, unfortunately, I have to say that I will believe it when I see it.

Can we get an "AMEN" for building structures that are not made of adobe brick with no re-bar?  Otherwise we (yes I am a Peruvian taxpayer) will be paying for this again after the next earthquake.
