The World Music Expo (Womex), that was created by The World Music Charts Europe (WMCE), has announced this year's winners of its Top 20 World Music CDs of the Year category, where Peru's “Novalima” reached the Top 5.

The election is based on the musical rankings of 47 specialized radios throughout the world, considering 24 countries.

This is the highest ranking position reached by a Peruvian group.

Novalima is a group formed by four Peruvian musicians/DJs based in Lima and London: Ramon Perez Prieto, Grimaldo Del Solar, Rafael Morales, and Carlos Li Carrillo. Its music is heavily driven by Afro-Peruvian and Latin percussions, blended with dubbed, broken and house beats.

Currently, the Novalima producers are dividing their time between DJ gigs across Europe and South America, live shows with the full Novalima band, and the studio, where they are remixing for other artists.

Novalima will close its Coba Coba World Tour tomorrow with a concert in Lima, and will announce an upcoming tour to the US and Canadá.
