Peru's Production Minister, Mercedes Aráoz, said that the per capita consumption of fish will reach 25kg in 2011, boosted by a more forward strategy of marketing led by her sector, as well as by the development of local gastronomy. # David N says :

Peruvian seafood is loaded with mercury and caught in waters tainted with industrial runoff and raw sewage. Add to that unsafe handling conditions (starting with lack of proper refrigeration). I never eat seafood in Peru.
No wonder Peru leads the world in stomach cancer cases.

At the same time, they need to start enforcing some stricter commercial fishing laws and protecting the long term survivability of their fishstock.

They couldn't pay me enough to eat that poison. The waters all around Peru are some of the most polluted in the world. Then people wonder why so many are getting cancer..Add your comment
