Junin's Regional Directorate of Foreign Trade and Tourism reported that it is planning to
invest more than 11 million soles by the year 2010 in the enhancement of Yanamarca's Valley archaeological and cultural heritage, and in the recovery of the historic area of the province of Jauja.
Silvia Salas Alvarado, the Director, said that these projects, whose implementation is supposed to last three years, aim to increase tourism in the region, and to improve the quality of life of the residents within the five districts located in the Yanamarca Valley; Tunanmarca, Pomacancha, Marco, Janjaillo and Acolla.
"The regional government has allocated a budget of S/.6 million soles, while for the recovery of Jauja's historic downtown we have a budget of S/.5 million soles," the official explained.
Salas Alvarado said that all this work will be focused around the archaeological complex of Tunanmarca, which will be also equipped with a museum.
