Peruvian team awarded gold and silver medals in the 24th Iberoamerican Mathematical Olympiad

Four Peruvian students were awarded gold and silver medals in the 24th Iberoamerican Mathematical Olympiad, beating students from other 23 countries, including from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Ecuador and Spain, among others.
The contest took place from September 17 to 27 in Santiago de Queretaro, Mexico, and the team members are Percy Guerra Ríos (17) and Jesus Ramos Castillo (18), both gold medalists; and Amilcar Velez Salamanca (17) and Julian Mejia Cordero (15), who won silver medals.
The youngest member of our team, Julián Mejía (15), is the only one still in high school; he is currently studying at the Cruz Saco School. This is not his first championship, since he won the First Place in the South American Mathematical Olympiad (Argentina) and in the Asia-Pacific Mathematical Olympiad
