The community of Chacayaje, in Carabaya (Puno region) was attacked by
some 10 masked and armed men, leaving at least ten fatalities and several injured people, according to the settler Leoncio Huamaní Condori.
According to RadioProgramas del Perú (RPP) the victims who have been identified are Jorge Beltran, Cristobal Ramos, Ricardo Camac and Gabriel Barraza.
The authors of this attack would be the people from Ayapata community, since they currently have a conflict related to the communities' borders; the Chacayaje people blame on Javier Pariapaza, the Mayor of Ayapata.
Leoncio Huamaní also held responsible the congressman Tomas Cenzano, whose building contractors “were preparing attacks,” since the borders conflict is related to mining issues, and Cenzano owns Minas Huinchumayo.
