Indigenous people in Peru accuse oil company of trying to divide their organization

Indigenous peoples from the nations Harakmbut, Yine and Machiguenga currently living in the territories of the Communal Reserve Amarakaeri, in Madre de Dios, denounced that Hunt Oil Company is not recognizing the validity of FENAMAD (Madre de Dios Native Federation) as an interlocutor.

Reportedly, Hunt Oil Company is trying to divide the people in the territory, and to negotiate their settlement in the area by making individual offers to each community.

The natives had previously decided to deny the entry of this company in reserve Amarakaeri on September 13th.

Hunt Oil is allegedly offering to build them schools, health centers and to install public telephones, but the natives have not accepted, since the block 76 granted by the state overlaps almost entirely on their reservation
