A group of 27 British trekkers has started a fund-raising expedition through the foothills of the Andes, reaching altitudes of nearly 4,200 metres (14,000 feet) over sea level, on their way to Machu Picchu, in Peru. # Martin says :

Grow up kids! If you cannot afford to be away from your 'families', don't travel. Perhaps Peru should be sending financial assistance to England because from what I read in Peru, the Peruvian economy is in great shape - especially when compared to the UK.

Do you have any idea what you are talking about?
They are taking an adventure trip, but instead of just doing so, they are also using it as a chance to raise money for a Hospice.
They are not raising money for themselves, but for people who are about to die in hospice care. They are not raising money to finance their own travel..each participant pays his or her own travel.
