Peruvian sportsman Peter López reached the quarterfinals of the Tae Kwon Do
tournament in Denmark, and is now heading to next month's Bolivarian games.
His dream of a gold medal didn't come true. Peter López, the greatest hope of Peruvian taekwondo, lost in the quarterfinals to Senegalian Balla Dieye by 6-2 and was eliminated from the 2009 World Championship. He stayed in Copenhagen, finishing among the best eight fighters in the world in the 68 kilograms category.

In the second round he beat Salvodorean Byron Vásquez by 4-1 and in the third one he beat Afgan Rohulla Nikpai by 8-3.
Now the only Peruvian at the tournament is Cristhian Aliaga who will compete tomorrow in the 54kg category. On Thursday, teammate Julissa Diez Canseco was eliminated in first round in the 49kg. category.
Peter López is coming back to Lima on Monday to train for the Bolivarian Games. "My next goal is the 2012 Olympic Games," he said to El Comercio.
