Public entities open to public on weekends in Peru

Alan Garcia announced that the government will pass (next week) a new decree eliminating non-working days in public administration, and public entities will have to be open to public also on weekends.

Garcia explained that public agencies and entities must organize and set shifts for their workers, in order to  avoid neglecting the attention of the public.

"All state agencies will respect the working days for processing documents. We have to serve morning, afternoon and evening the people of Peru, " he said.

The only fixed holidays will be January 1st, December 25th and 1st.

Is there any extra funding associated with this? This sounds like a terrible idea. Are government employees just going to have to work extra to cover these shifts?

It sounds  more likely that employees will still work 5 work days a week with alternating days off and occasionally having to work a weekend.
