Six Peruvian companies have been included in the ranking of
the 100 most profitable in Latin America: reportedly, they have reached a profitability of 97.6% so far this year.
According to research conducted by Munita, Cruzat & Claro Global Investments, printed by the Chilean newspaper La Tercera, BBVA Banco Continental (with a return of 162%) is in the 12th position of the Latin American ranking, followed by Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde (159%), Volcan (145%), Banco de Crédito del Perú (98%), Compañía de Minas Buenaventura (78%) and Southern Copper (19%).
All these firms (except Buenaventura) had previously reported losses ranging between 5% and 52% during September and December 2008.
The stock exchange of this group also rose from US$36.2 million in December 2007, to US$39.1 million in September 2009.
