Peru's Transports and Communications Minister, Enrique Cornejo, declared publicly in favor of reducing to zero the legally permitted levels of of alcohol in blood for drivers, because “the intake of drinks, even if it's only a single glass, affects the reflexes and concentration when driving.”

The Minister said that nowadays the international tendency aims to reduce these levels to zero.

“Here in Peru the reduction is being done gradually, but please, let's put on the table all the scientific evidence that explain this situation, "he said.

He recomended taking into account that some people are more prone to suffer the alcohol effects due to their age, to obesity or any other health condition.

'The question is. why taking the risk? We want to ensure our life, "he said.
