Metal Suimitomo
will purchase two mining rights in Peru's South, with the authorization of Peru's Armed Forces General Command, that was issued last July.
The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) authorized Company Sumitomo Metal Mining Peru to purchase two mining rights located within 50 miles of the southern border of Peru, in the region of Tacna.
Sumitomo's request is included in the course of public necessity provisions of the Constitution of Peru, as the interest in establishing the ownership of those areas transcends private interest, significantly impacting on the welfare of the community.
This exemption aims to achieve the development of border areas, thus increasing the standard of living in the surrounding areas.
