Peru’s cook Gastón Acurio will not run for Lima’s Mayor

Peruvian cook Gastón Acurio ruled out again the possibility of running for Mayor of Lima under Acción Popular.

The party’s General Secretary, Johnny Lescano, had been declaring to local media that Accion Popular was “in talks” trying to convince Acurio to be their candidate next October.

“Are they saying again that I will run for Mayor of Lima? Come on, don’t be so cruel. I don’t know where they get these ideas from. I have said it already: I don’t have either the abilities or the ambitions for that. I am a Peruvian cook, and that implies wonderful tasks,” he wrote on his Facebook profile.
