Two minor earthquakes, magnitude 4.5 and 4.6 on the Richter scale, struck the Peruvian cities of Ica in the southern coast and Pucallpa in the central Amazon region. No damages have been reported, according to Peru's Geophysics Institute.
The first tremor was felt in Ica and Palpa at 4:06am, and reached 4.5 Richter, generating fears among the residents who still remember the 2007 earthquake, which caused 600 casualties.
The other tremor was registered near Pucallpa, with a magnitude of 4.6 Richter.
Peru is located in the “Pacific Rim of Fire,” where some 90% of the world's earthquakes and 80% of the world's largest earthquakes occur, like the one that hit Chile.
